Probably part of an expansion somewhere down the line. Introduced for SAM and NIN.Model developers for swords really ought to be familiar with Ewart Oakeshott's typology for European swords, by the bye.
Getting away from swords, it occurs to me how little there is in the game which is inspired by Japanese / Asian historical fashion... everything seems to be based on European historical stuff, or fantasy derived therefrom. It would be nice to see more Asian stuff... it might be old hat to the Japanese players, but it's new and exotic to those of us in the other two thirds of the world.
You should have bought an authenticator.....
Your tears feed me....

Gunblades, FFXI Darkknight scythes & greatswords, puppetmaster pets, /REAL/ summons, Buster/Fusion sword with unique limitbreak, dragon pets.
20 sec CD HP/MP pots

2-handed crossbows, in place of the standard Bow. Most classes have weapon variants (dagger, short sword, long sword, and clubs for GLD/PLD) - Bards have long bows and shortbows. How about some sweet crossbows! I'm sure you could integrate some musical apparatus in there.

Not an item but more of putting things I have to use:
More Battle Companions: or at least letting use some of our other mounts in combat like the Coeural or Fat Chocobo since we can already use our company chocobos.
you can swing a buster sword, its called melee limit breaks 1 and 2 =D
Me on the otherhand, want a gunblade. I mean its allready in the game, I just cant seem to pry it from Gaius' cold dead hand.

Gilgamesh's "strongest spear" looks like a gun spear to me!.. I want it!
