Model developers for swords really ought to be familiar with Ewart Oakeshott's typology for European swords, by the bye.

Getting away from swords, it occurs to me how little there is in the game which is inspired by Japanese / Asian historical fashion... everything seems to be based on European historical stuff, or fantasy derived therefrom. It would be nice to see more Asian stuff... it might be old hat to the Japanese players, but it's new and exotic to those of us in the other two thirds of the world.

Not that it's a stereotype or anything, but like many of us old FFVII fanboys, I'd do nearly illegal things to be able to swing a Buster Sword or Masamune. Or Genesis' blade from "Crisis Core".

you can swing a buster sword, its called melee limit breaks 1 and 2 =D


Me on the otherhand, want a gunblade. I mean its allready in the game, I just cant seem to pry it from Gaius' cold dead hand.

It is a gunspear. It's from Nael Van Darnus. All of the leading Garlean people use gunweapons.

There is already at least one gunblade equippable in the game already.




It's Lightning's Blazefire Sabre from FFXIII, but it was only available during the recent FFXIII crossover event - if you missed it then you've lost it for good I'm afraid. Unfortunately it's basically just a regular sword with a fold-out fancy blade - the gun component is non-functional. But its still cool to have nonetheless.

That's Bradmante - it was Nael van Darnus's special Garlean-made gunhalberd in version 1.0 - after van Darnus's defeat at the hands of the original Warriors of Light in 1.0's story, through a complicated and humorous series of events involving Hildibrand it ended up in Gilgamesh's hands... and as Gil has now claimed it... I doubt you'll be able to get it willingly from him.
