Is a Parser ever comming?

You know what I do when I get kicked from a party due to my poor performance? I move on; join another party or just take a break. This is something you're going to have to learn to get over eventually when doing anything with other people. Unless you have the ability to select who you play with (which you do) you're going to run into toxic people sooner or later so just learn to deal with it. This applies to many other areas outside gaming such as the internet, group projects, gatherings, jobs, etc. Having a useful tool not be allowed because some people can't handle being told they need improvement is punishing everyone for the problems of the few.

If you are actually being harassed after being parsed: blacklist the person, report them, and leave the group.

Here's what you don't seem to get. Regardless of whether it's the tool or the player SE doesn't care.

I get it well Ikeda, as a player that has invested over 11yrs with SE MMOs. You bring up past practices, so please explain the implementation of ilvl avg brought by SE and PF with an option to set it. As many out of that biggest source of income claim massive abuse with it.

To be clear, I didn't start this thread as well. Only added my opinion of something else and I'm not like others that will continue to drag this thread out as now it is far beyond the point of purpose.

Those were just mistakes by SE thinking they were adding something people think of as "necessary".

The ilvl issue was likely the same reason they added duty finder and a few other bad design decisions they made. I like to imagine the process of making that decision went like this: "We're clearly not copying WoW enough I mean have you seen those other mmos that copied WoW? They're liek totally making millions *ignores the fact that pretty much every single P2P mmo that has tried to copy WoW too much for the past 9+ years has either shut down or been dumbed down to F2P* I know let's copy item levels, those totally couldn't be detrimental to the community ".

Party finder was more along the lines of something that can be useful but due to ilvls and a few unnecessary additions to it (the ability for players to set requirements) has caused more problems than it should have.

Parsers fall into the category of something that "can" be helpful but causes far too many issues than it helps, and is unnecessary but people have the delusion that they're necessary due to overuse in other mmos.

You also have to remember alot of people seem to have VERY fragile egos these days and will think of it as harassment regardless of how you say it.

That was my point, and that group seems to be the majority of XIV players.

To the point on an official parser, as I said I won't drag it out. If the community can't be mature about it and grow skin in a constructive manner from both parties, why bother. Easy already explained the other side and abusive players will get thrown to the wolves.

Parser is not really an accurate measurement to begin with. It is just showing a figure for your overall DPS at, and for most of time, it is not accurate.

Takes BRD for example, you may be parsed at 250 DPS in T5, but if you didnt do your CD correctly, you still can not break out people in conflag. This is a scenario I have seen in last night's T5 progression party. His overall DPS is up to par, but he did grief mistake when handling conflag, because he would always dot conflag with venom and frostbite before his other CDs.

Did parser reflects everything in this scenario? I seriously doubt that. Parser is only abe to give you a general idea of where you are at, but it can not reflect all the details.

I could also be a external factor. As a healer, I'm not sure I really enjoy a DPS that is strictly sticking to his cycle and eating all the AOE so he could be the king of the ring.

Someone didn't read my giant post about how parsers also show incoming damage. If 1 DD has way more incoming damage than another, ask them what they think they're doing. Or just, y'know, stop healing him until he gets the point. >_>

Parsers have an option to show outgoing damage done by target, or incoming damage done by player. So, yes, if you know where to look, the parser did probably include this info.

The only upside I can see to an official parser is that it would, in theory, track all DPS/HPS 100% accurately.
I could get behind a parser that just displayed your personal data, and kept it hidden from others, or left it's visibility to others as something optional.

Personally I'm interested in them adding parsers to this game, I refuse to use the third party parsers because I do not consider them accurate for this game. If there were an official parser I would use it to improve my own personal rotations as well as help other players improve when they are open to suggestions.

Additionally, I have to agree with the other people in the thread saying that DPS should be held accountable for their performance. If there's a bad tank or healer in the group they get nothing but grief if they don't perform well, why should the DPS be exempt if they aren't performing well also? I don't think people have to be rude about it but if somebody isn't performing well and isn't willing to listen to suggestions/improve from more experienced players then that's their own choice. I don't think experienced players should have to sacrifice their own fun in order to make the game fun for somebody not willing to put in the effort.
