i have a few questions for you.

if a friend of yours goes with you to a bar and has 2 drinks do you call the law on them? no

if that friend gets hammered do you call the law? no, you try to get them to let you take them home or call a cab for them.

if you are in a car and your friend goes one mile an hour over the speed limit do you call the law?

have you ever called the law on your friends downloading music if those people lived in the united states? sure it's not illegal to you, but it is for them.

if the answer to any of those questions is yes i would have nothing to do with you in real life nor in the gaming world. the only one i would accept is if you said yes to calling the cops after your drunk buddy refused to let someone else bring them home and decided to drive completely wasted. at least that one you are looking out for your friend and other innocent people.

Probably if a friend live in the USA i can say:" pay attention" becouse i know that he can ruin his life in USA (around 3k dollars for every mp3?)

these are the type of answers i would like from a friend. if i am doing something wrong a friend is supposed to come to me about it. if i continue to do the same thing afterwards then i dug my own grave.

all i was stating that if i knew a friend was, in fact, botting or doing anything illegal in game or in life i would do exactly as you say. i would say something to them that it is known that is happening and that they needed to chill with it and let them take it from there. the best thing i see we can do for friends if try to talk them in the correct path and not have the law correct it for us.

now, on the other hand, if my friend did something major and i knew about it i would deffinitely involve the police in those matters. things like murder, rape, racially motivated beatings, etc... are things you cannot talk them out of doing and the law is better prepared to handle those.

i just guess i look at botting along the speeding and downloading of mp3's in that is is not a voilent crime so i would bring it to them and tell them to knock it off, but not get the authorities involved. now if i was questioned about either one in life or game i wouldn't lie to cover for them either. i live by the honesty code as in you are only worth as much as your word.

maybe you at least see why i see things from a different point of view. we may not agree on them, but at least you can see them.

i am sure i am not the only one, but i won't befriend anyone that is known as a snitch or a backstabber. you never know how far they will go to tell on anyone about anything just to make themselves feel holier than thou.

if they are known for backstabbing and snitching on people who's to say when they stop using law as a definition of telling on someone and when they decide to try to ruin you for what they deem as immoral.

If a friend don't say "you are doing wrong thing" who can say? If a friend don't do nothing to stop he from acting like a criminal......can you really call you a friend?

Having a friend who's a thief isn't always a bad thing. Just think of all the cheap stuff you could get.

Whether it was his intention or not, but the OP makes a good point about how the current system is very bot friendly.

Obviously people are going to bot regardless, which is quite unfortunate. What can be changed is the number of people that do bot.

With the current system, its not only easy to do (recipe button and only need to spam standard) but there is also a significant motivation to do so (mindnumbingly boring). Thats why a topic that was brought up earlier about an auto-crafter contained some interesting discussion.

If SE wants to really combat botting then they need to make a few changes. Obviously keep the recipe button, its a nice addition, but for godsake lets add a BIT of challenge to crafting. Make abilities more potent, make luck less potent, and up the overall difficulty of the synth.

Next, drastically increase SP given per synth. Also increase the cost of each synth. Sadly this will be hard to accomplish as SE has apparently made the decision to make materials crazy abundant. Quality over quantity here.

It shouldnt take 600 synths to level up, how about 60 instead? But make it just as expensive, if not more.

Here is where the core issue arises. Gil is worthless. So its impossible to make a system thats described above, because materials, shards, and gil are crazy abundant. So instead time, patience, and sanity are the limiting factors, and that, imo, is terrible game design.

[Synthesis]

More crafting-based quests (go there, pick material, craft that for me), where you can gain better SP as additional reward after finish would be nice for this game.

Now there was one of my ideas :
Each 36hours with leve-reset some these of "craft" quests migh reset as well. Like :
"I ran out of material that you provided last time. I need your assistance again... here we go"

You finish quest and you gain additional of 1000-2000 sp + you have sp while you craf material in quest. Its just a sample.

It might encourage more players to start with crafting. This would benefit more casual crafters in this way :
- you dont need to gain material and you can still progress a bit different way than just leves, every 36hours.
