This is very true. But this game has an especially tedious and bot-friendly system for an essential component of the game.
being tedious to level doesnt make it bot friendly
hell, this game is actualy alot less bot friendly then several others, the EASIER the system the easier it is to bot, not the other way around
the only reason people make such a big deal out of it here atm is cuz they arent catching them as quickly as some people would like(or the fact alot of players are just damn right haters who wanna see anyone who crafts alot banned, and im not kidding, go read peregrines posts)

If you're grinding on canvas gloves all day at appropriate rank 30, I think "thats a real person." If you're an alchemist who's been in the same spot for two days grinding fish into shards, then I think you're a bot" One day in the same place making fish to shards isn't enough proof, i could be guilty of that, shards are gold.
Hi. I see you're on Saronia too. I wonder which Lalafell you are talking about?
I have many friends who have multiple R50 crafts (several in my Linkshells as well), and I'm pretty sure that most of them don't bot because they almost always respond when I /wave or /say to them. Sometimes /cheer gets a better response because it makes a noise that might draw their attention. ^^
Here are a few bits of information about high level crafters I know personally and talk with often:
- Several don't really like battle jobs. They'll do battle jobs every now and then, but it's mainly to help or be with friends.
- Several are housewives or have work-at-home jobs so they have a lot of free time.
- Many are watching TV or web surfing while crafting (I'm often doing this).
- Many are often chatting within their Linkshell (I'm usually doing this as well).
- Many have been playing almost every day since October (I started in October and play every day also, so I have an idea of who has been around for a long time)
Of course there are people who bot, which is unfortunate. And I hope SE does something about it.
But having multiple R50 jobs is probably not a good indicator.
these are the type of answers i would like from a friend. if i am doing something wrong a friend is supposed to come to me about it. if i continue to do the same thing afterwards then i dug my own grave.Ok you are a very friendly poster...
I answer...
Why i must call police if a friend drink 2-3-10 glass of alchool?
I can say to my friend:" don't drink too much or you ruin your body"!
I definitively stop my frind if he want to drive after....
1 mile?? Sorry i don't know the law off all the country....i'm used to a sort of "range" (here if limit is 120 kmh , infranction start after 10 kmh over the limit) and i 'don't call the police (i ask." can you slow down?")
don't know how to answer to mp3 qeustion (probably not if downloading is only for self use and not to sell)
Probably if a friend live in the USA i can say:" pay attention" becouse i know that he can ruin his life in USA (around 3k dollars for every mp3?)
all i was stating that if i knew a friend was, in fact, botting or doing anything illegal in game or in life i would do exactly as you say. i would say something to them that it is known that is happening and that they needed to chill with it and let them take it from there. the best thing i see we can do for friends if try to talk them in the correct path and not have the law correct it for us.
now, on the other hand, if my friend did something major and i knew about it i would deffinitely involve the police in those matters. things like murder, rape, racially motivated beatings, etc... are things you cannot talk them out of doing and the law is better prepared to handle those.
i just guess i look at botting along the speeding and downloading of mp3's in that is is not a voilent crime so i would bring it to them and tell them to knock it off, but not get the authorities involved. now if i was questioned about either one in life or game i wouldn't lie to cover for them either. i live by the honesty code as in you are only worth as much as your word.
maybe you at least see why i see things from a different point of view. we may not agree on them, but at least you can see them.

Wow, just because i have a 50 craft i am a bot? geesh...
It took me 2 months from starting this game to get one combat job and one craft to maximum. Now, I am looking to finish up the required sub crafts and take another craft up to 50.
shoot, the only trick is to possess the ability to press enter while watching tv. Its not hard, nor is it expensive to do so. It literally took 3 days of mining until gathering fatigue to get enough ore for getting one craft to maximum. After that, it was just procurement of shards.
I cannot wait until i have 2 crafts at maximum, then haters will start callin me a bot too.
Guess haters will just be haters.
i have 6, they lay into me all the timeWow, just because i have a 50 craft i am a bot? geesh...

Netflix/Amazon Ubox/Hulu ftw <3 Beer more optional since I'm allergic to it. :P
I'm on for like 16 hours a day myself. What else is there to do for 16 hours except craft or gather when you hate the battle classes? I even hate fatigue which means that I'm contantly swapping through the various crafting jobs. I'm pretty much only limited by how fast I can gather or if I'm supremely lazy I can buy stuff in the market wards.
Why don't I have tons of r50 crafting jobs?
1) I try to be as self-sufficient as possible. I try to craft from what I gather.
2) I would like to finish getting my guild-mark skills/abilities before r50
3) There are days where I've been too sick/worn out to do much more than stare the bobbing head of my Lalafell for 10+ hours
4) I've been in and out of the hospital multiple times e_e;
Obviously someone without problems #3 and #4 would be going a bit faster than I am. Someone that doesn't care about doing #1 & #2 would really be zooming.
Not to say that there aren't botters in the game but I wouldn't accuse 90% of the people in the game of botting.

yahahhahahahaha congratulations
jealous???? i don't care about craft or Ihave more 50 than you...but that botting is a plague in this game in obvious....
Or you never go in Umbra island..or you never try to tell to people that are grinding craft...
try..and a new word open in front of your eyes.....
I'm ok with the fact that there are fair player that craft..
But game design encourage botting...
BTW you can call you Idiot..or yours relatives THX i don't know you and you don't know me, than take the distance....
more 50s? i feel obligated to http://www.ffxivpro.com/player/Selbi...e-Registration
now that we're past that, as i said... OP is a clear idiot, incredibly jealous, and [borderline] dumb
why are people responding to his unintentional trolling and trying to actually discuss stuff with such a person? O_O
That's basically my point. It is insanely easy to craft, making it bot-friendly, and it's also very tedious, providing players additional motivation because the thought of actually crafting themselves is mind-numbing.
Don't get me wrong though, I don't think people with a few r50 classes are botters (and frankly I don't really care if they are). I do think this crafting system lends itself to botting though and more fundamental changes are needed, that the OP entirely missed.
