I've noticed this as well, I used to craft a lot because I anticipated a time where gil would mean something but after rerolling on a more populated server I gave up on it. It felt like SE made their crafting system to thwart botters but really turned it into a tedious chore for anyone except the botters.

I liked FFXI's crafting system that depended more on randomness, time, moon phase, element, etc instead of mindless button mashing that's still annoyingly random. XI also had mats that actually cost a lot to obtain and that was usually the reason for slowed progression... something that XIV is severely lacking since gil is too easily obtained and mats cost significantly less than the crafted items. Crafters shouldn't be able to vendor their items and even come close to breaking even.

There's no rush for SE to ban all the botters, I'm sure they've identified a lot of them already. For now, they supply the wards with a lot of gear that legitimate players can't keep up with especially with most players capping DoW/M first. And I hope after they revamp DoH (I believe I read somewhere that it will become less tedious) that they'll also begin to remove botters and the hundreds of millions of gil they've stockpiled. Maybe then the wards empty out and a market might actually develop...
