Why does Burning Strike(potency120)(Ifrit Egi) do less damage than Wind Blade(potency100)(Garuda Egi)?

It's the way its set up and is the reason I lost interest in smn all together. It's because Garuda is INT based while Ifrit is STR based and since when the pet is summoned its based off your stats then Garuda will always be far more powerful then the other two EGI's. Now you know why smn needs to be fixed.
Increasing the master's STR does not increase Ifrit's damage. If you believe this, you are mistaken.
If one looks at any given weapon of a certain ilvl one can infer that, for attacks of equal potency, magic attacks are generally more powerful. Compare, say, Sphairai Animus's 49 Physical damage vs The Veil of Wiyu Animus's 69 Magic damage. We can assume pet "weapons" work similarly, or mechanics otherwise align such that magic just generally does more damage than melee to counterbalance the (usual) lack of autoattacks.

Makes sense. Though I do wish this wasn't the case for pets. If Ifrit's potency was actually stronger than garuda's like the tooltip read's I'd use him more.

Ifrit still deals ~10 more dps than garuda does.
