    UI Edit Mode

This is a suggestion I'd like to see implemented. It should be relatively simple to implement as well, the Idea comes from Secondlife to some extent, but its not been in any other MMO's that I am aware of.

Basically when you go to the settings menu, there would be a button called "UI Edit Mode" It would only be usable in a safe area (Towns) So you can't accidentally engage it while in combat or at times when being unable to control the game would become dangerous.

Once in the mode, the Main Menu Disappears and ALL UI Widgets and Items become highlighted around their graphical edges. These edges let you determine where a UI Element Begins and ends.

It also creates empty "Highlight Only Boxes" where things like "Input Menus" and other items would normally pop up should you engage in talking with an NPC, NPC Chat Boxes, and even the Popup Texts for skills.

Once you get all the boxes into position where you are comfortable you then can snapshot your UI to save it to your user folder and then open the same UI settings on another character afterwards.

I'd also like to see the ability to change UI Colors, and Individual Fonts for elements. I'd love to have the Eorzean Font made by one of the guys at Eorzeapedia for things like HP, MP, TP, XP, SP, etc in the UI elements but then use the default font for the Chat Log and the NPC Chat Log.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

/Signed, except maybe replace the 'useable only in town' with an option to lock the UI while in combat. Also, a feature for scaling individual UI elements would be amazing.

I mention the only in towns thing because it really would suck if you couldn't control anything when you started being attacked by a monster.

I've never had any trouble with the UI but if it'll get people to stop bitching, I'm all for it!

Really My suggestions targeted at people who have a lower then optimal resolution and tend to have UI elements overlap too often when they pop up and can't move them to places that would be more convenient like the Skill Bar Popups.

I play at 1400x800 (which isn't thaaaat bad) and it still feels really cluttered. I don't care if I have to squint to read any text, I'd rather have that than have the clutter. Call me OCD if you want.

Yes, I'd really like to edit the UI too. Most of the stuff is accessory garbage to me anyway. It would be cool also if we could minimise widgets to a "taskbar" so to speak and open on an as-needed basis.

Also, resizing text is a must.

SE's intentions of having the action-bar present at all times really frighten me though. (They said in recent interviews that they intend to lock the action bar on your screen at all times).

I also fear for the fact that Yoshi said that they are looking at "displaying more information". I feel like this is a bad idea because I really don't want to play a UI instead of a game.

rather then custom UI support, which is problematic since it's multiplatform (they have to be very careful what functions can be accessed and can't be accessed)

they should just give us a modern standardization of UI functions. Able to scale the UI for instance, so we can play at any resolution without given up quality. Able to filter, able to do terminals it, etc.

And still waiting on that keyboard mapping... totally wrong to not have total keyboard mapping in this day and age.

They need to make the UI client sided first anyway. By the way, do we have an update on this SE?

Also I think 3rd party UI support (or UI addons, whatever you want to call that) would be a more intelligent move as for the long term.

Since they showed they don't have (yet?) the skills required to build a proper 2011 PC MMO UI, they could at least let the players do it by themselves, even if it's only to steal back the best ideas at the end.
