    Action Bars saved to Classes?

I can't seem to find the mention of this anymore but I vaguely remember reading it somewhere. Just wanted to ask if the saving of action bars to each class will be coming in 1.18.

I found this to be one of the more irritating points about the old system where they allow you the freedom to change your class at will. But having to manually reassign every skill on your action bar is just counter intuitive.

I hope this is in 1.18 as it would help when your bouncing betw your main and alts to play with the friends who are coming back to have a look in 1.18.

If anyone finds a reference of any mention of this, thank you!!!

I also remember seeing it somewhere, where they said we'd be able to save action bars for each class. Then it was asked if we could do the same with equipment and they said no.

I can't recall where I saw that though.

Even though you can (in a very limited fashion) "save action bars" via macros, I agree that there should be a more official, efficient, and effective means to save action bars (by saving to either specific classes or allowing the user to create their own saveable templates and setups). I also believe that this would slightly compliment their own open-ended class design in the process.

I hope they add this in soon too. Having to swap all your skills around every time you change classes is a pain, especially at the higher levels when you can nearly fill up all three action bars. Even if you remember which skills you had set, the lag involved when trying to remove and add new ones still makes it take forever. Why is it when I go through each skill quickly and select 'remove' that some are left behind, forcing me to do a second pass? (>_<)

FFXI eventually allowed you to save separate macro sets for each job, they desperately need something similar here

I mean I know the game wasn't ready and I am not bashing, but isn't it just hilarious given the push of the armoury system that they didn't have a feature as simple as remembering your action bar (per class) in the game? Crazy...

yeah. I know we can use macros but macros only work to a certain extent really. (you even need a macro to remove the skills you assign to slots. very counter intuitive) I main Archer, and it's just irritating when refill (which is default to "2" on the action bar) doesn't automatically go back to "2" if you placed another class skill in slot "2".

honestly, i really hope they have this fixed in 1.18.

I'm not sure if you've played FFXI. But the macros in FFXI worked instantly unlike here where they process line by line. Even with a macro, it takes a good 15-30 seconds for things to happen, for example when your equipment change slot by slot and your character blink in and out as EACH PIECE changes. (In FFXI your character blinks once to reflect all the changes).

But the fact is equipment changing is tolerable. But for skills to be unequipped line by line. (each of us have 3 action bars) if i'm not wrong. macros go up to only 10 lines. IE. if you use all available slots. you need 3 macros to empty your skill slots and another 3 to re-allocate skills to them. PER CLASS. Something which can be accomplished as simply as just tie action bars to your main hand.

Macros are very unwieldy. They need a more intuitive system. They mentioned saving action bars recently, so maybe in another 9 months we will get that.

I really do hope they do add action bars saved to classes! I am glad that they have the macros so we don't have to do it manually each time we switch classes, but as Imagene said even macros can take some time to fully complete. Saving it to our classes would make the process so much easier and a lot less time consuming! ^_^

It's just weird that the armory system was touted as the game's focal point and yet changing classes is such a monumental hassle.

I don't understand why they wouldn't be able to do it with gear too... In FFXI as long as you had the gear you were wearing on a given job still in your inventory when you switched back to that job all your gear was auto equipped for you. No reason our gear and abilities both shouldn't do that now.
