Them going untamed added an element of "Oh shit" and made you have tpo pay attention instead of letting your pet kill stuff as you afk.Pet classes are some of my favorites and Beastmaster is THE pet class. When they (hopefully) get implemented I hope that the pets we tame become a permanent pet that we can name.
I was actually hoping XIV would be the game that could really capitalize on pets, as most games do implement them poorly. When the game was being developed they really seemed to place a big emphasis on range and position. Perhaps I haven't seen much of an impact on positioning because party play is rare and I end up attacking directly from the front. If this actually did/does make a difference, having two units attack from different positions could give pet classes an advantage over other classes.
