New To Tanking, Need Tips.

I just started playing the game on Friday. I am up to level 25 marauder. Didn't realize there were roles or what the roles might be. Haven't played any kind of MMORPG in a long long time and also made the mistake that I was all about DPS.

I don't know what half of the abbreviations in this thread mean yet... But I did get my first "congratulations on being the worst tank ever" comment last night. Lots to learn.

Aggro = how much an enemy wants to attack you (as opposed to how much they want to attack your friend). Similar to "Aggression".

For further details I'll quote myself:

Agro is a score. Every enemy keeps track of a score for every person in your group. Highest score is the person that gets attacked. That score changes all the time.

Learning to play is exactly what the OP is doing by posting here.

1.) Mark at least one target per group in dungeons, preferrably the one who poses the most threat (healers, hard-hitting casters) so the group knows what to focus first.

2.) When doing Hardmode Dungeons (to unlock the Duty-Roulette for High Level, for instance) tell your group you are a first-timer when you enter it as so. Most players understand this and make it you a little easier by giving tips and hints at bosses. But reading beforehand about them in guides can't hurt.

3.) When at boss battles in full groups without any current adds, don't try to get into a emnity competition with the other tank. Use the OT combo (Heavy Swing -> Maim -> Storm's Path/Eye) and keep the debuffs up until you are needed elsewhere.

4.) Infuriate and Steel Cyclone is a good combo-move to gain start-emnity. Even better when you have 5 Stacks of Wrath already, so you can use SC twice.

5.) Your Stun is off the cooldown, make use of this advantage when a interruption is required/beneficial.
