was i the only person who liked the wine and cheese quest?
xD idk i thought it was fun and cute they prepared stuff for u before titan to rise ur spirits with and enjoy things....wasnt that what it was about?
i dont read much into the mainstoryline, ill be 100% with u lol it's not that...good to me so. so ill just pretend thats what it was coz otherwise ...meh.
besides that, yea it does get boring. the same ol' mmo formula we all know and love but it is fun reading some of the side quests n stuff.
the sch class quests are fun to me too.
but to be brutally honest, imo, this games main story is pretty boring for a final fantasy game. the worst one i've come across.
i'm not saying is down right horrible..it's just the worst one i've read out of all the others.
subjective and just my opinion. i really wish they gw2'd it and let us decide our own stuff a bit, and let us speak...
my character has no feelings at all ): the only tme i had an option and still progress was the beginning in
the carriage ride n crap lol, and to that i only said "..." coz the rest sounded selfish. -.-

It has to do with the EXP earned, and spacing out the content so you could actually level to 50 while doing it.

If instead of say 7 fetch quests, they gave you 1 fight, and you got a shite ton of exp, and got a full level
or more, it may be a little unbalanced for what the story is supposed to not only do, but also how it should
    occupy your time.

In expansions I doubt this will be as much of a problem, as they will expect us to have already have the main
    scenario for leveling purposes.

Funny I need to keep reporting back at some mundane things right to Minfilia instead of dropping the infos just through the Linkshell (which we seems to use quite often in cutscenes.
Same goes for Cid and the Twins - Pretty sure most of their stuff would be able to be completed by just reporting through them.

Ah, maybe I am spoiled by the quest system of the Secret World, where you complete them automatically once you met the right conditions and get a debrief through the smartphone.

Ironically Minfilia actually explained why she doesn't do that very thing and asks you to attend face-to-face meetings rather than just discuss everything via linkpearl in 1.0:

Besides, look at real life - just because we have advanced communications technology, face-to-face meetings are still very commonplace - electronic communication like telephone, email and video confrencing is very impersonal, and having a face-to-face meeting with someone allows you to truly develop a rapport with them.

And given the fact even in ARR linkpearls are not actually a secure form of communication (Nero after all was clearly shown hacking into the player's linkshell feed to speak to Cid in the Praetorium, and that linkshell signals, being a form of radio, can be easily blocked or interfered with), it's little wonder Minfilia prefers more traditional means of meeting. But I digress.

It's a story driven MMORPG though. And before any rebuttal about it not having to be that way or that there's other games out there that let you skip it, you have to remember it's a Final Fantasy game. Traditionally, a franchise/series that is renown for story (among other things). You're essentially in the wrong neck of the woods if you're looking at this negatively.

Agreed on that. There are elements here that are entertaining, but not much more than that. I can't quite put it into words, but my theory is the link between the tasks player has to do and the story that is told. XI, for example, is notorious for the difficulty to do things. It's also widely agreed to have an amazing story and soundtrack. The writers and basis of the games story is obviously a huge bit, but as far as being memorable for the player, I think it's a combination of things that do it for us.
