Playing hide and seek may seem light, but when you hear that those kids survived the massacre in Doma only because they were good at hiding it takes a much darker tone. It's not just playing, it's training survival skills...When i had to play hide and seek with the children and parfume the chocobos i kinda lost hope on the story... i rather have stories delayed and voice acted and GOOD then what we have now...
I really had to laugh when i read "im the warrior ... not some errand boy" lol, but sadly true
A hero is no hero if he can't even handle picking up wine bottles for an old man! You can slay a god, but if you can't help someone in need your no hero in my book! XD
a)nothing forces anyone to read anything, click click click and it takes a few secs to pass the wall text, so no big deal
b) nothing forces you to do story line quests, tribal quests and anything that has more then two lines of text, unless you use the fast reading or click click to go quick out of the wall text, true too you may not be left with much to do, but hey.
c) I find far more boring and annoying to repetedly do Atmas' quest and receive nothing then read a text that tells a story, good or bad, still a story, there is no RNG in there, and is relaxing, to me at least.
d) if you dont have time to play, dont play anymore and do something else
e) this game isnt meant for your sole enjoyment, this engulfs a large community with different likings, each need to find their fix, find yours and ignore the rest.
f) why should they move to another content and remove the old one just because you play since a long time, others just started so they need to equally do what you did way back, kind of normal, and kind of silly to ask to forget the start based upon the fact you already have done it since long...(this is not an answer to OP, someone else made this comment)
All in all why complain on something like this ? not sure I got this

seriously, when they asked me to fetch the wine bottles i wanted to throw my keyboard on the screen.
thank god it was only a short q.
I'd be cool with it if it ever led to anything remotely cool for me. Look at Leviathan as part of the storyline, you're thanked for going through that whole dirge of a storyline (including wine bottle pick up) and then thanked by Merl(whatever) for saving Limsa once again. Something along the lines of they can't thank me enough. I know, maybe offer me a free house considering I saved every single one from being crushed under a huge tidal wave!
Or the fact Yugiri hints at a new class they'll string out for another 6 months or longer and have hidden behind a convoluted quest line. Anyone remember how the job quests in FFXI were actually cool and rewarded you with something for your efforts. Seems like S-E are the masters at stringing out content now that invariably turns out to be lacklustre anyway.
Eh, I'm ok with being an errand girl. It's the humility, and the humor, of it all that gets me.
My only issue with the way the quests panned out over the story was summed up nicely here:

You gave us a linkpearl... use it! I don't need you to tell me to fetch something in person, especially when the thing I need to fetch is closer to where I am than it is to where you want to tell me about it.
Not sure what you mean by this... Every class quest and job quest in FFXIV gives you equipment rewards, new abilities, exp... I personally felt the quests in FFXI were a bit meatier, in that you often had to team up with other players and go to dangerous places to get them done, but more rewarding? Not really. Often the quest rewards were straight-up junk, like RDM AF feet and weapon. Not even a scrap of exp to take the sting off the crappy reward. The equipment doled out in FFXIV is, at least, usable for the most part - and when it isn't you can accept a gil reward instead.
FFXIV class and job quests also tend to be a bit better in terms of storytelling, since they can spread the storyline across five or six quests, instead of trying to pack everything into just three as was the case in FFXI.
another cry me a river thread because SE asks you to read or do smaller/filler quests in a FF game. part of being a true hero is serving others no matter how big or how small the challenge. serving wine/food to starving refugees who have watched their homeland destroyed is not all that small/meaningless.
ONLY A TRUE HERO CAN PREPARE A BANQUET WHEN TITAN IS ABOUT TO RAPE US ALLanother cry me a river thread because SE asks you to read or do smaller/filler quests in a FF game. part of being a true hero is serving others no matter how big or how small the challenge. serving wine/food to starving refugees who have watched their homeland destroyed is not all that small/meaningless.
