My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean...
You're no Warrior of Light with an attitude like that.

To be honest, isn't killing bosses a fetch quest in itself?
'Kill this boss and retrieve me [item/person] for me!'
Heck, coil itself is a escort and a fetch quest.
'Escort Alisae to coil and clear it out, then run back to Waking sands and tell them what you found.'
So tell us, what kind a quest do you want?
Kill bosses only and just do that all the time? Like in Shadow of the colossus? Even that is a fetch quest, you have to go back to the main temple at the end.
The rains have ceased, and we have been graced with another beautiful day. But you are not here to see it..

I personally enjoyed the main story and the quests that have been added since. As far as comic relief goes, yeah, there are a few moments here and there but those do not make up most of it. The Hildebrand quests are awesome though, but that does not make up most of the game in itself, as it is a side story you can complete optionally. This game is more lighthearted than some FF games in the past but it has some dark moments (see the Waking Sands massacre with Livia Sas Junias as an example.) Even how "A Realm Reborn" came to be was tragic, though it was summed up in what my opinion was the best cinematic created in the past decade. A lot of people enjoy the main story quests but it may not be some peoples' cup of tea. If you want a more serious game though this may not be the one for you. As to the title of the post, Hydaelyn probably thinks of you as both. :P

I don't want everything to be killing bosses, but at least can we sparse up the filler quests with some more cutscenes? Some more dialogue? Something besides me just nodding my head? That's all I want. It feels like the further the storyline goes the less involved I feel in it, which to me isn't ok.To be honest, isn't killing bosses a fetch quest in itself?

My answer was aimed at the OP though, who has mentioned that he simply skips cut scenes in general.I don't want everything to be killing bosses, but at least can we sparse up the filler quests with some more cutscenes? I wouldn't mind more cutscenes, as long as it's not heavy like Metal Gear 4 and Xenosaga.

Teleport here, interact with some objects, teleport there, kill 10 sheeps, /repeat. Yahhh story mode is just too basic. Look at FFXI with Zilart, COP, and Nation missions.

I really hope that Grand Companies eventually evolve into something akin to Nation missions (Something akin to the main quest but for your city-state), or else they really do just become another vendor which would be disappointing.

In the words of Auron "if you want to prove yourself, first you must complete the tasks given to you."
Doubt it, the name of this game is accessibility, everything needs to be made as simple as possible in order for everyone to achieve. You're not going to get the cool nms, bcnms, sneaking around dangerous new areas, etc. It's going to be what you see now, teleport back and forth to Horizon, interact with some purple object, kill some weak trash mobs. All soloable and easy stuff.
