Is this d/c usually before you really become active and start playing? I ask because I used to play a mmo where people with slow read times on their hard drive, would get d/c'd on their first log in from the game essentially d/c from to long of a wait time in communicating with the server. The second time they logged in, they'd be fine as the files would be in the prefetch.

This is all assuming pc client rather than ps3, some of this could apply to ps3 but I have no advice on how to fix it if it is.

So if you are having an immediate dc, I'd try a few things based on that old experience to fix it.

Defrag your hard drive with a third party defrag program not windows. I like this program http://www.auslogics.com/en/software...frag/portable/

Depending on your system you could use Readyboost on windows vista or 7. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReadyBoost This works by putting in a usb flash drive and helps the prefetch process.

If all this does improve your situation the last thing, but very expensive thing to do is to replace your hard drive. The best solution for fast reads is an SSD. But like I said that's fairly expensive and not something I'd recommend over this. Just wanted to mention it for completeness.

Now like someone else said, it could be your isp so doing some tracert and ping tests to see if you are having packet loss etc is a good idea. However if you are having issues with the first load only it really does remind me of the problems in the other mmo I played.
