Unable to complete version check. [30605][10009][19900][10045]

    Hello Community,

I'm trying to startup the client of FFXIV ARR, but I'm getting the same error message everytime.

    Error message:
Unable to complete Version check. [30605][10009][19900][10045]

Does it work on a different PC on the same network? Yes.

What I already tried to fix the problem:

    - Run as Admin
    - Disable anti-virus (Even through processes, in taskmanager)
    - Disable Firewall
    - uncheck the "Real-only" box on the SquareEnix folder +Subfolders, same goes for My Games in Documents.
    - Re-install the client (CD and Download from net)
    - Tried re-installing a different location
    - Copying all the files from the FFXIV ARR folder from my Desktop (Where it works) to my desktop.
    - Disable UAC
    - Rebooted my router (Also did a ipconfig /release /renew /flush dns. And checked if I had different IP's on all PC's)
    - Rebooted Modem
    - Checked for any suspicious Process.
    - Checked for any virus with Anti-malware bytes (Disabled afterwards again)
    - Ran MSconfig, disabled all services/processes except for Microsoft Corp. ones.
    - Restarted my PC
    - .Net frame updates (Version 4)

I did the Following advised by players:

    This solved it for me,
    Go to :
    C:\Users\''yourusername''\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

    Open with blocknote :
    FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file

Modify and save it as follow :
<FINAL FANTASY XIV Boot Config File>

    <Version>
    Version 2
    Language 1
    Region 2
    EulaAgreement 1
    StartupCompleted 1
    B4EulaAgreement 1
    BootVersionCheckMode 1
    ConfigReset 0
If anyone have more Ideas feel free to post them.

    Greetings DonJustin,

We apologize for the trouble you've been experiencing with trying to update to the latest version. We have a couple of other suggestions to try out to resolve the update issue. Head over to the "Fix it for me" section at http://support.microsoft.com/default...en-us%3B811259

After doing that, update your LAN card drivers and firmware. If the error still persists, we would recommend reinstalling your OS.

    Thank you,
    GM Xophious

DonJustin, open your ffxivgame.ver and ffxivgame.bck files (C:\Program Files (x86)\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\game) in notepad or something to check the version numbers. They should be the same. Here are the last two strings in case you need them.

The last patch version string: 2014.03.25.0001.0001
The new patch version string: 2014.04.08.0000.0001

Otherwise, you may be getting file corruption during your download. These are not stored in the installation folder you copied--they are nested in your My Documents/My Games folder and the folder paths are specific to the machine and accounts used on that machine. You would have to do a little research to find the proper folder to copy the downloaded files from, as they may have different names on their parent folders (it uses hexadecimal numbers for folder names). You may be better off trying to trick it into thinking you have an older version installed by editing the version files and redownloading (may require you to delete the downloaded files as well--as always, make a backup of these folders/files before deleting/altering them just in case).

    Xophious, you're a genius. Thanks.

it seemed like my Winsock2 was corrupted. After following the steps I found out I was missing 1 section/name under protocol. After using the cmd> netsh winsock reset, I rebooted and my launcher finally launched normally.

Again, thank you so much.. it wasn't urgent, so the idea of re-installing the OS didn't really suit me, but now I don't have too.

This thread can be moved to resolved.

good grief! Winsock???!!! That takes me back to NT4. FFS... Guess we need to start throwing out the TCP Reset as well?

Just amazes me how Windows manages to keep such a large foothold in the market....
