So what Server do you guys choose? Closest to you or closer to the actual server? I tried a many servers from WTFast and only have a reliable connection at prime time when I choose one closer to the FFXIV servers. (I'm from Europe btw).

I used chain connection.
First Server is where you're closest to (use the Ping button to determine that).
Second Server is closest to the SE servers, in this case, Canada TO1 or TO2 is sufficient.
For me as EU player Ninja is unplayable without WTFast, I would've quit this job months ago without it as my ping is around 160+ and Mudras are a living hell.
EU servers can't come early enough.
i also use chain connection
1st server i go with closest to me ie: aus
2nd server i go with closest to server ie: japan
i play on tonberry and japan is a lot closer than canada (6800km vs 14100km)
I play on the NA Center, so that makes sense. I have to keep trying out connections cause I still get 110ms :x
thats still allot better than me lol
australia is so dam far away from the rest of the world for one and our whole countrys broadband infrastructure is basically poo.
without wtfast my ms is around the 270 mark but with wtfast im at 130 - thats the best i could come up with after playing around with the port/servers choices etc
Ah alright. But I'm using the Free Basic Version where I can't use chain connection. But servers close to Montreal work for me. WTFast Servers from Europe do not however.
Too bad I can't test the Premium version for a day or so...

Im in México at around 3,000km away from the servers, and I have to use WTFast to play this game. Albeit Im sticking to the free-renewable sub version of this program.
Still, for the distance, I still get a 112~130ms ping... its frustrating for playing Ninja. Guess it shows how shitty my internet is...
I don´t use WTFast but something similar (a PPTP VPN Tunnel to a Server at another ISP).
I use it when my ISPs Uplinks at the VIX are overloaded due to netflix and stuff. That´s the perfect scenario where WTFast really may make a difference.
A VPN Tool can improve in 2 ways, you can sometimes avoid congested Links (depending on where WTFast/VPN sets it´s endpoint) and/or avoid P2P Traffic Throttling, due to encrypting the Traffic (and ISPs see VPN Traffic more important than your game traffic)
But be aware, results may vary from user to user and from 0 to hero...
for example, if your "last mile" is broken, you wont notice anything.
Never a mind was changed on an internet board, no matter how good your arguments are...
(considering I hit the character limit last post)
I'm going to try out the premium version of WTFast soon, and if it's as good as they purport, then I'll be staying with it. But it is very VERY aggravating (to say the least) that I need to use a third party program in order to make SE's product work.
