    Chocobo Companion Issues

    Dear Developers,

Two patches have come and gone, and still a very important problem has persisted since the game's launch; the chocobo companion.

When A Realm Reborn launched, SE gave us our own chocobo companion that we could summon to fight along side us.

We were able to level our feathery companion and allot points not unlike our own character's stat allotments into Attacker, Defender, and Healer.

At the time of launch, we did not know the max level our chocobo could reach, nor how to obtain the rare reward bardings. All we knew, was that leveling our chocobos was a serious commitment that took quite a lot of time and effort.

SE gave us a system that promised customization, and we were punished for it.

The reward bardings can only be obtained for going against customization, and simply putting all your stat points into one role.

No where in the game is it stated that the reward bardings would be rewarded for obtaining the final skill.

No where was it stated the max level would be 10 when we started out.

The hard work of thousands of players is being punished, I personally have a level 10 chocobo; 9 stats in healing, and 1 in attacking. Am I foolish for not waiting? Maybe, but SE is making fools out of all of us for this oversight in design, and a lack of empathy for these players.

Please Developers, address this and give us an official quote on your plans for the players who worked hard but came up short due to the lack of information that you provided.

    Sincerely,

A loving player of your Realm.

Agreed and liked, they really should have put something in the game to reset points by now, I did see someone mention they are redoing the Companion system though so maybe that is why.

Obviously there is Chocobo breeding planned which may tie in with the new Companion system if it is indeed planned.

Either way some confirmation and a progress update would be welcome.

That would be an even bigger insult. I'm a tank and I was pissed when I realized that all my previous ex primal/ coil runs didn't count towards the new achievement. Imagine how someone who spent 10 hours straight grinding at Urth's gift to get from 9 to 10 will feel when SE says nope that was for nothing try leveling again. Personally they should just give a respec similar to the hymn books and when chocobo breeding comes out then create a system where putting points in to certain stats (ex 5 attacker, 5 Defender) and breeding it with a similar chocobo will yield a red chocobo, for example.

I can't agree with this post more.
I'm not sure what SE is thinking, so that makes me a little wary.
I don't expect being able to completely switch over from (say) level 10 tank to level 10 healer will be easy. I wish it would be, but thinking along the lines of SE, I don't think that this will be the case since that would make all barding instantly accessible to anyone who leveled a chocobo only once. All they'd have to do is switch over to a new class.
As much as I wish they'd allow this, I don't see it happening. I fully expect them to implement the 'breeding' of chocobos this way. "Messed up? Want a new class? Raise a new chocobo!" I can't say that I like this idea- some of us didn't know what we were getting into when we allocated stats to more than one role.
The fact that I might be leveling my chocobo for nothing really makes me a little bummed. I don't want to toss him to the side (if the aforementioned is what they're planning on doing) because of one mistake.

This, this need to be fixed and soon.
I see them resetting the level of your Chocobo should you choosea nd not just letting you reassign points. This way it's still fair for people who put the work into getting a barding. Those who didn't know are still behind but at least they can work on a barding if they so choose.

I agree. If I had known there were special barding packages for maxing out each talent branch, I would have chosen one and stuck with it.

Even if they are redesigning the companion system, we have no idea when it will actually be released - or if the barding packages will be obtainable through the new system. They really need to add a chocobo version of The Keeper's Hymn in the meantime.

Agreed, let us buy a GC item to reset the chocobo attributes, much like what we can use for our own class point resets.

It would work differently though. Due to there being special achievements and such for each tree, you'd have to re-level it.

Not necessarily. Knowing SE, if they give us a point reset for the chocobo, it will require max ranking on our GC and use up ALL of our Seals for just one reset. The barding could of course be locked like the various GC versions, so if you reset points, the barding is taken off automatically.

exactly. whats stopping someone who did get 1 to rank 10 in 1 class to get barding, respect for another barding, etc. it wouldnt be right to lvl it once to 10 and just be able to respect it often to get the stuff.
