What's stopping a SCH from going SMN and getting their relic and being level 50 despite having only leveled as SCH? Absolutely nothing. They already set the precedent with SMN/SCH, this isn't exactly new ground being broken here.

A quest reward would be perfect for it.
There could be a quest that give you an item that reset the Chocobo skills and work only if a role is not already on max. This way everyone can only get a barding once and not every 3 of them. And because it is a quest reward you can only get the item once.

I'm just hoping they don't do anything to the grind aspect of leveling the damn bird, whenever they get around to adding/changing content to it. The usefulness of the Chocobo companion is limited, but it's still something to work towards. A very long-term goal for most of us willing to do it. Some might argue that the exp grind is too long and that wanting to keep it that way is pointless, but that's just it; the entire Chocobo leveling feature IS pointless due to the limited usefulness of the bird. It's almost along the same lines as a generic achievement. It's something for completionists and those looking to just kill time with.

Oh wow, I had no idea about this. While atma farming I was thinking about leveling my chocobo finally. I was even thinking about adding some points into the Healer part instead of the Tank. Thanks for this info and I agree with you. SE should have told us about this or give the barding to whichever points were set in the most. Something like that.
I would never had know if it weren't for this post. +1 like.

So I guess we need another topic about this? I agree that it does suck that you can not reallocate the stats on our chocobos but with everyone saying they were left unaware is their own fault. It tells you when you first get your companion and start to allocate stats it states something along the lines of, All stat placements are permanent and can't be removed. Its stated in the help pop up window that comes up when you first get your companion. Again it blows if you chose to ignore this and place stats where ever. Hope SE does something to fix this eventually. But I'm also happy with how it is, since I actually read the info.

SE already said they are adding a reset for chocobo (inb4MogStation), dont see why keep complaining when it was promised... So they didnt reveal the whole system when the game started so what? let the players find something out by themselves... Not everything have to be revealed and explained on day 1.
They should raise the skillcap of companions rather than just re-slot it.
Why pretend that it's customization when it only makes sense to stick to one route.
I hope they add mobs that can ONLY be soloed with a powerful companion. The potential is great but there's just no content in the game that requires the companions to exist. This would be good area to expand in a patch instead of just slapping a few more fates into the game.
Id like it if the level was 30 for the chocobo. just much harder to complete the bird and lets you get all the stuff for it. just add new chocobo stuff for breeding. gold saucer maybe?
