    New Player, question about grouping

Hi, everyone. I started the game last night and just had a question about grouping and xp. I was playing with my wife last night and it appeared that xp is significantly lower when playing in a group as compared to playing solo. Am I crazy or is this actually the case?

I think if you are the same level then there is no xp hit. If some of the party is much higher level than you, then the lower level characters won't get as much xp.

First, I believe it is the case however you are able to kill enemies much more quickly with 2 people so it might outweigh the reduced XP.

Second, what the above poster stated is correct and level difference will reduce how much xp both parties get.

It is worth mentioning that XP from grinding enemy kills in the open world will very quickly become too low to matter for leveling purposes so it's not as much of a detriment as your level increases and the added kill speed to complete quests or whatever is much more useful than the extra XP you would get from individual kills while solo. If you hop into a dungeon, though, you can gain incredible amounts of XP from the kills within.

If you do want to stay together as a duo in the open world, you can do FATEs together. There is a level-synch option if one of you get too far ahead, and the xp rewards are a lot higher. Alternatively, you can each grab sets of levequests and complete them together to, again, get more xp than just killing random things. Finally, when you're both strong enough, there are dungeons. Depending on queue times for the duty finder, this has the potential to be easily the quickest way to gain experience points.

Yeah she was telling me about the levequests, she's been playing longer than me. The odd part is I measure the per kill xp and that is lower, but she was showing me thru town on a new toon for her so that we were the same level and her impression was that we didn't get as much xp from the quest turn ins as well? Probably going to hit some fates and levequests tonight, I just want to make sure I understand anything that's going on with the grouping/xp system. I'm a dork that likes to know the numbers on this and I didn't find any info on the wiki for this game about it.

Quest XP, leve turn-in XP, and FATE completion XP is unaffected by group size.

However FATEs are easier to get more XP on in a group since as long as you are able to do an action to contribute in a fight, your entire party's contribution gets pooled with yours which results in higher rankings if you get to a FATE late.
