Can I just buy the PS3 version through the PS store (even if I don't own a PS3) and transfer the service to PS4 and start playing the early access today?

Because it is advertised on their official site but is not actually a thing. If you click the link to purchase a digital pre-order from the Square-Enix store then it will instead transfer you to purchase the PC download. If you click the link to purchase a digital pre-order from the PS Store then it will instead transfer you to purchase the PS3 version.
I emailed customer support about this and the email basically absolved SE of all responsibility of the false-advertisement of the item in question, stating that Square-Enix does not actually own the Square-Enix Store and that it's handled by a company called "Digital River". The fact that the item is advertised on their website is irrelevant. Screw the customer.
Because of this I was unable to pre-order, therefor I will not be receiving my Cait-Sith Doll, Moogle Cap, nor the Early Access.
Because I am trying to gain early access which you automatically get for transferring from the PS3 to PS4. Plus, the PS3 version is $10 cheaper.
It seems that you have at least a PS4.
Why not buy it in the PSN with the PS4?
Amazon will e-mail you a early access code immediatly. Pre-order the PS4 version from Amazon, get your code. Cancel order. They won't bill you utill the game ships (4/14). Then you can buy the game from whomever you want on the 14th while still enjoying early access.
This isn't anything new for Digital River and SE's online store.
Ask anyone that preordered 2.0 from them when it originally released if they ever got their early access or game in a timely fashion....
I personally didn't deal with it though, but I got to read some of the forum spam during that time... It rivaled the 90k disconnect bug epidemic posts in magnitude. (If you weren't around then, during early access/final beta people would get disconnected and not be able to get back on until the game offically launched, and then, maybe not for a while after.)
I'm sure other forum goers would bemoan Digital River and their dealings with them if asked about them...

Thank you. Got the preorder items too.
So you're encouraging people to use fraud just to get in game items? Yeesh.
I really hope they find a way to suspend/ban people who do this. Especially those that already have the game and are just doing it to get in game items.
Ban people for cancelling a pre-order, then buying the game on release? I doubt that's legal on SE's part. They're still getting their money either way. Don't be a hater.
