Can confirm it doesn't work. Don't have a single drop and have done over 250 fates, and I have tried this method.

This theory so far has been working rather spot-on for me with the exception of Central Thanalan (Scales). Anyone else have trouble with it?
Didn't work for me over the past few days. Got some ATMA but all outside the windows and none during.
RNG is RNG
I have to wonder how much SE devs are laughing at people coming up with these ideas.
I also have to wonder how many devs are looking at these and thinking "I'll have to remember that, that just might work on some future project" ...
I call shenanigans on this theory. I spent 7 hours of fate grinding today, following this theory. I've not gotten a single Atma while doing so.
It's not like it's a guaranteed drop chance within the hour long window; RNG still plays a factor but there could be an increased chance during specific time frames (local time). I've had more than a bit of success with this method (also some fails).
I'm more likely to believe that this theory holds some merit based on the fact that FFXIV is interacting with our PC's time settings. If you change your time setting on your machine manually while in the game you will get 90k'd from the server.
I'm a little bit slow with all those timeframe things.
So the server time is GMT+1 yes? And since I'm GMT+2 I'll go check the places 1 hour later compared to server time is that so?
Thanks in advance for the reply.
The theory is based on using your local time. So for example if you're in PST check during PST (i.e 2 am/pm PST).
I said it worked .... BUT ONLY if you time it with JST. Since it is the jap people who found this theory, so it is their local time ie "JST" instead our our local time, whatever that might be. So for those who called BS on this theory, you could be using your own local time. I tried farming mine for 2 hours using my own local time which is PST and 0 drop and as soon as i did some math and tried it with JST. Two atma within 30 minute at their respective hour.
That or the theory is total BS and i am just having lucky streak. Still could be RNG
I had more luck using MST (my local time) than trying with JST or server time (5 Atmas almost in a row); this ties in with the speculation that FFXIV monitors your local PC time as mentioned before. The original thread regarding this states to use your local time; conveniently the Japanese servers and their local time are the same.I said it worked .... BUT ONLY if you time it with JST. RNG is still most definitely involved.
