Well here is the thing about The Elder Scrolls Series and Final Fantasy Online games....TES is a console game not an MMO. And XI and XIV are MMO....so....there is a world of difference I think when it comes to designing these types of games. In TES is only you, and maybe some summons going through a sandbox type environment.

Typically people who play MMO's want to be able to team up with a friend (duo with a buddy like me and my husband) or make a large scale party to take down some baddy...

I wouldn't want another gaming company who doesn't have EXP builing an MMO coming in and telling another what to do....Now....if you want to say Blizzard should say "Hey SE...want a hand?" then yeah...I would say "Blizzard you should probably like...help out your competetor" or something They at least have successful exp making and launching an MMO (BTW I've never played WOW so no I'm not trying to say I prefer one or the other, just making a point...comparing apples to oranges..."

    Reality Check, Kitty!

Oblivion, Morrowind, etc are all massive worlds. They are also a bit sandbox-like. A lot of the experience they gained in creating these games can easily be applied to world-building in MMOs.

It's just the networking/UI/multiplayer interaction systems they have little experience on, but is easily resolved by headhunting for the right man for the right job. No need to hire a massive new crew for an MMO. Heck, it is known that Bethseda has an MMO in the works...

Sorry I don't know much about game design! :P Yes you are right, they would need to hire the right people...something SE clearly forgot to do T_T when they were first creating XIV. Well hopefully the crew they have now will make it grown by leaps and bounds *cheer*

Bethesda has an MMO in the works? Ru'oh! I love me some TES! I hope it's a TES online...Sorry SE :/ Big fan of the Kajit! Miquo'te have nothing on them! :P

Also, Don't forget, Bethseda is a PC game maker first and foremost. While their recent iterations of Oblivion and Fallout 3 used a consoleized interface, I think they've learned their lessons and changed their development approaches regarding Skyrim so that they don't repeat the same mistake.

PC-centric game development for the win!

Now all we need to do is get SE to realize that the overwhelming majority of MMO players are on the PC...

Yes and no. In terms of audience and the competition level. Console is still smarter. It can work for and against, really no clear right and wrong.

PC MMO is a super saturated market, console is still wide open.

we also need to make Activision realize that the overwhelming majority of FPS players are on PC... so their new game Modern Warfare 2 will flop on consoles for sure...

    Oh wait....

Sorry to burst your excitement bubble, but Todd Howard has said that Skyrim is being made exclusively for consoles in mind this time, and the PC ver will be a shoddy port. We're not getting a PC enhanced ver..../cry At least we still have the most awesome modding community to make the game look/sound/and play better than anything Bethesda releases. I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing a console port on purpose this time, knowing the modders will basically make a proper PC ver for free...

It's not a port, they're developing it for all three platforms.

As for the enhanced version, Todd Howard said:
"Obviously the PC version looks better. It has higher textures, it can run much higher resolution and has a lot more graphic features. We tend to show it on 360 so that it’s a good baseline for people to look at so when they then see the PC version it’s going to go up. We’d rather do that than have people see the 360 later and it takes a step down."
