    Adventuring as a Tank

    Hi All,

just thought I'd share something I experienced and was wondering if anyone felt the same?

I started out as a WHM Main

then I decided to Level PLD, and while a lot of people may say tanking is easy(er), it has its vices, such as add pulls.
and now I have my BLM at a high level too.
so I have experienced at least every class type and what others go through in a fight.

When I played as a PLD in most fights, it gave you more room to view the fight as a whole rather than worrying about for the most part -- PLUMES / AOE's Etc. (compliments of Lag)
With this new lease on life I started to enjoy Tanking and done it more often.

and after playing for some time as a PLD, I understood certain fights way better - faster as a WHM / BLM...
I guess its because as the other class u permanently running for your life whereas the tank has a little more room to look around.

don't judge me too hard for any misconceptions

    Regards,

My main is a White Mage and I feel like I understand fights better as a white mage than a summoner.
Also I find it easier to dodge aoe as a healer. When I'm on my summoner My eyes are at cooldowns and debuff times so sometimes it's too much to watchout for AoEs
But as a healer I just try to stay as safe as possible while healing those who gets hit

I haven't played a tank and I don't think I will cause it doesn't fit my character, but I assume it's kinda the same as a healer!

It all comes down to personal opinion and personal playstyle.

I for one play all 3 types of player like you do, healing, tanking and dps. Assuming this is content that requires a player to focus, regardless of difficulty or level. Personally, when I heal, I get tunnel visioned in keeping people alive (in heavy fights that requires much attention). When I tank, I have to focus on keeping hate, one or more than one mob, while keeping myself alive and using the necessary survivability cooldowns. As a DPS, I only have to keep myself from dying while dealing damage, and after a while you will learn your enemies' movements and act accordingly or instinctively, same with your rotations. Unlike Healing or Tanking, which requires initiative and reacting to what happens, DPS can deal damage using the rotations that they've mastered while watching the fight.

That saying, I enjoy all types of roles and experience enjoyment specific to that role. Glad you are enjoying the tank view though!
