Sagolii desert has no foot-fall effects and its pretty disappointing. I think the desert in FFXI has footfall and that was made 13 years ago?
And I know Coerthas has snow foot falls, why can't we have sand?

That feels like an oversight, because we have foot-prints on the beach now in the Mist Wards.
My feet sink into coil floors like they're sand. You'd think they could have just done that for the dessert. >_____>
They should have used sand physics like in journey.. no one would leave the desert then![]()
PS4 limitations.
But seriously, this probably is just an oversight.
hmmm gonna check mist wards later on , SE implemented foot steps on that sand?![]()

Probably a server thing.
They can literally just copy pasta the Coerthas snow effects and color them brown.
Yes, it's an oversight that they tried to cover over as "Something that might affect the memory limitations currently imposed".
However a simply particle projection effect would work fine here, they said they're considering adding this in the future however it's VERY far down the list as it's a cosmetic addition if anything.
This was so long ago now that I don't have a quote, you'll have to take my word on it~
lolno.
Their 'excuse' and or 'explanation' was that it'd cause memory issues, however a particle effect with a low resolution texture wouldn't impose that much of an issue (as they could easily set this so it's only on the Windows/PS4 client)
