PS4 + early access, clarification

So I've been looking around at a few things to find out what exactly qualifies you for the PS4 early access (which I assume is at 12PM PST April 11th, AKA tonight).

As far as I can tell, so long as you have a copy of the PS3 version and then transfer all of your information over to the PS4 (via the transfer a character on the PS3 login screen) you should be able to start playing on the PS4 any time after that 12PM launch time, or rather any time on the 11th/tomorrow.

Is this correct or is the early access ONLY for people who are purchasing the PS4 version for the first time? I hope that this is not the case as I would sincerely like to start playing for real on my PS4 as soon as possible.

Sadly, you have your times mixed up.

12 AM is midnight.
12 PM is noon.

12 PM Pacific is 3 PM Eastern .. its tomorrow afternoon, not the wee hours of the morning tonight.

The transfer PS3 to PS4 is for macros, hot bars etc. It's not actual transfer of character information. You will need to login on the Mog Station, and Upgrade to PS4(if you're upgrading) at 4/11/14 or 11/4/14 depending your location at 1am PDT.

Outside of that, if you are in the beta phase 2, you should be able to just login for the pre-release if you're buying a separate version, instead of the upgrade, as long as you put in the pre-order code. Incorrect. The transfer data option found on the launcher is only used for transferring locally saved data like hotbars/macros, etc. and has nothing to do the platforms that you can play on.
However, by using the PS3 -> PS4 upgrade service on the Mog Station to transfer your rights from the PS3 platform to the PS4 you will be able to play on the PS4. The upgrade service will launch when Early Access does on the Mog Station.

any news on the trophies? will the ps3 list just get transferred to ps4 or stick on ps3 and unable to plat?

it would make sense to carry over the trophies from ps3 because some are so grindy you cant start all over on ps4, like 1000leves etc.

considering that it starts on April 11th I have to assume that it is in fact starting at 1AM Friday April 11th PST or 4am Friday April 11th EST?

Does that mean that once the mog station updates at roughly these times, we can transfer (thanks for the info on the patcher) to the PS4 and then start playing on said PS4 at the same time (due to the PS3 -> PS4 early access)?

As a PS3 user since its day 1 launch and over 4000 trophies and now day 1 PS4 user, I can say with about 99.99999% certainty trophies will not "carry over." Every game that's been released on both platforms have separate trophy lists. This will be a completely different game, different sku, different trophy list(although same requirements).

What WILL happen if it goes down like other games that have had "retroactive" trophies is for say the 1000 crafts, leves, etc. you will simply have to do one more of those and the trophy will pop. Same with killing mobs, clearing dungeons, etc.

The issue is gonna be the main story completion trophy. There is nothing you'll be able to do short of completing the story again on PS4 with a new character. So the choice will be, log back into PS3 to grind out some possible missing ones or pop em on PS4 by doing one of each and then redo a complete new story playthrough with a new character. I havent decided which I will do.
