    Bad customer support

Hello, just wanna say that I was unlucky and greeded instead passing on a item. And my friend didnt get the item and I felt bad and terrible and wanted to fix my mistake. Contacted GM support and got a answer telling me that they cannot help with such matters.
Normally in other mmos helping others with wrong loot GM's have always helped me.
Bad costumer support in this game. Heard so many other players thinks customer support is bad.

    >Greetings,

Thank you for contacting FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn in-game support.

Unfortunately GMs are unable to exchange or restore items that have been mistakenly looted by another player. Alongside*this, GMs are also unable to restore any items that may have dropped within an instance, but were not assigned to a player due to moving to another area of the dungeon, or by leaving the dungeon before the loot was assigned to the designated player.

That's not really worthy of being called "bad". The GMs in this game do restore stuff, but within a slightly more restricted policy. In other games, the GMs might also only allow 1 item restoration over a lengthy period of time.

SE CS is already notorious for being bad from back during the FFXI days. Heck, they still are bad, but for much better reasons than item restoration. Refusal to restore accounts because of missing password information (despite having all other required information that are far more important in identification), sketchy/wrong information, poor work ethic, bad attitude, etc. GMs not restoring items in situations like yours is more of a prevention of abuse type of policy... and possible laziness, of course.

Well, I don't see why that makes it bad. Sometimes they call it "bad" when they don't get what they want, but they have their procotols. No exceptions, I guess.

I never understand this perspective... nor the need to turn the issue into anti-gm/se talk. Just because you did not get the against-policy outcome that you wanted doesn't mean the GM gave you bad customer support. The GM was clearly polite & understanding. Mistakes are mistakes. Live with them & learn from them. Experience is always better than "loot".

They're even worse in FFXIV than they were in FFXI, in my experience. After submitting reports, I've gotten back automated messages with solutions that didn't even remotely pertain to my problem on a few occasions. In other cases, one GM would directly contradict what a previous GM had told me.

At least they're polite during actual conversations, though.

Square Enix support is almost legendary for how terrible it is, yes, but I don't really think this is an example of that.

If they did something like this you can only imagine how big it'll explode and be abused later.
"Oh I don't want this item anymore, let me give it to you *ring ring Mr. GM*.." and that would only be the beginning of it.
