Leveling without Leves?

I am trying to level my MIN class to level cap but my DoW class is still at 22. I just want to know if this is a smart idea?

It's going to be a rather long grind tbh. I have a DoW at 40 and I'm still having trouble squeezing out the last 2 levels for my MIN. Leves make leveling tolerable, without them you're going to be mining for weeks. Try to get to at least 30-35 so you can get the Quarrymill leves, they should help you get to 40 or so before the xp dwindles.

Just a note, if you're doing evaluation leves at a much higher level that the leve itself, the number added to the eval by BOTH items will decrease, making it almost impossible to get the xp bonus.

I leveled my miner almost without leves(used 10 in total). Took probably hmmm 2-3 weeks. But I earned a ton of gil in the process since I was focusing on stuff that I can sell. And I was watching other stuff along the way so wasn't bored out of my skull.

I am 50 in all DoH as well as Btn Min and just one DoW. DoL leves were the most useful for leveling, DoH are good, battle leves are a waste imo. Evaluation leves with BiS gear are extremely efficient, and pretty easy. I don't think it's a bad idea at all to have a gathering class as your highest.

If you're going to gather to level, i suggest figuring out what is the most valuable (regardless of what you need) and selling it, so you have gil to buy whatever you want/need, and sell you treasure maps!

Well, use whatever leves you do have on Mining. You'll level your normal battle class via the quest lines, dungeons, etc.

And if I'm seeing that right, looks like you are leveling a Gladiator as your battle-class. Just run dungeons and do the story-quests and you'll fly through leveling.

Main issue I see is that it will be BORING. While it's true that Leves are good exp, the main thing they bring to the table is breaking up the tedium of cycling from node to node to node to node for hours on end.

If the grind doesn't bother you, there's nothing stopping you from leveling to 50 through straight mining.

I found that grinding the nodes with food and Survival Guide II from GC was the most effective.

I felt leves was slow compare to node grind. But just my feeling

At least I could sold what I got

The EXP gain from GC provisioning missions has been buffed. Along with a bit of weekly EXP from the Challenge logs.

Most organic way to level a DOL without leves is to use him as a counterpart to a DOH. Some DOH need a lot of items a DOL can gather and this way you level 2 characters and it doesn't feel that odd anymore to do it without leves. Miner is essentially needed for Goldsmith if I recall correctly and maybe other ones as well. Can't remember anymore since I am done with both DOH and DOL since longer time. A quick look in the recipe book of a DOH will reveal who the DOL counterpart is.

Yup, leves for DoL are only barely faster than grinding in the best of cases. And you don't get to sell anything you gather in leves.

Except fishing, definitely use leves for fishing, since most of the fish involved you make a profit buying nq off the market board to trade in.
