Especially since the FATEs are intended to be done by any random schmuck leveling in the area and you're coming in with ridiculously overpowered gear. Yes, you level sync but your gear is still going to be better than the random crap some poor little level 15 newbie would have had at the time. This isn't a 'challenge'. It's a lottery.

You guys keep beating on this drum but, what is challenge? What is difficulty? Is it myth farming? Hitting duty finder a hundred times until you randomly find competence? Honestly you guys throw around these words but I have no idea what a "skill based" 60+ hour grind would look like, and I don't think you do either. Is every fate going to be as difficult as HM Titan AND have a small drop rate? Should it be something like Odin and only people who rank gold get the item? Should the Atma Grind have just been implemented normally in a level 50 only area?
Frankly, I don't care if it's challenging or not. All I'm doing is refuting the people saying that the system is working fine because now it's a challenge to get your relic upgrade. It's not a challenge at all, it's a timesink. Those are two very different things. How about the people that think this is fine because it's 'challenging' explain themselves?
What I want out of this is just for it to be less boring. I don't feel like the upgrade is worth all the time it takes doing FATEs, which I consider the most tedious part of this game. That's why I'm not doing it. Hell, if the drop rate was this bad but the atma were all drops from the final bosses of dungeons, I'd be fine with it. Dungeons are fun to do. FATEs aren't. But then, I'm the crazy one that leveled off dungeons before 2.1 so I'm probably alone there.

Just about to hit 11 hours in Central Than over the last 3 sessions. Not 1 atma drop here but I've witnessed others claim to get and leave all the time.
I don't mind the working towards something part but I don't like the feeling that 11 hours for 1 atma and I see others post 12 hours and I got them all because that is crap.
What should have happened is that it kept track of all your fates in this zone. Everytime you get a gold medal +3%, every silver 2%, bronze 1% then at WORST case your looking at 100 fates per zone which is a crapton!
The fact that im hoping for something that is becoming more and more frustrating while others collect 12 in the same time is bs.

Maybe you need to let this whole Atma thing out of your teeth?
Again you're just hyper focusing here. Those people might mean challenge but what they really mean is rewarding. They feel rewarded AFTER getting their Atma, now they might only feel rewarded because of luck or something, but it still feels rewarding to them. Really what is challenging content to you? Dungeons aren't challenging to me, heck they barely are fun to me they're so easy now. It's a personal thing, challenge.
Also you'd like Atma to drop from final bosses? So just make it endlessly more difficut? Come off it. I know people who haven't gotten their drops yet are upset, but it will be changed by the end of the month. Sitting around the forum trying to diminish other people's accomplishments or enjoyment of the game is something that should be below you.
This is really a common complaint and it just amazes me. It makes me think people haven't done grinding for rare drops before. I'll agree there should have been some drop rate adjustment built into this, but there wasn't. It's going to change by the end of the month. I honestly don't like the idea of a grind with a built in nerf date, but that's the way it is.

Worm have you ever grinded for 12 super rare drops that was needed to make 1 thing? But that wasn't the end of the rare drop because you need to grind books and myths and grind and grind... What the complaint is that not is it only a RNG thing, its 12 RNG things and when you have them all its just the beginning of the quest not the end. I have played FF11 and Everquest both for years so I am not one for instant gratification but this is a little extreme here.
Im about at 12 hours while I type this message in 15 min or so. I collected one atma over a week just doing fates while I do beast tribe quests so I get the you can do other things arguments. I also understand that this helps new player arguments as well. I just think there should have been more thought put into these than stay here for 1 min to 1 week and hope you get lucky 12 times.

You can get lucky and go over 4 fates an hour, dungeons will always be at best 3 or 4 an hour. Not to mention unless you have a farming group of four you're going to have to use duty finder and all that comes along with that. Honestly, why the hell would you think I was talking about anything but the logistics of the run? Could you imagine being on your 700th(!!!!!!!!) dungeon without an Atma drop? Why would I think a FATE was more challenging than a dungeon? You're trying to misunderstand on purpose I hope.
Did you get mad then when someone got a drop before you? I'm pretty sure getting Journeyman Boots was harder than doing Atma. I'm not even defending the Atma grind but all this obsession with linguistics is just irritating. Babbling on and on about challenge and difficulty, you'd think they'd want some system where it's just a few F16 pilots walking around with their Animus. Also yeah I'm on my second book right now, the grind is painful I did either 600 or 700 fates in all and I feel pretty lucky with that but I wouldn't have been surprised if it took 1000 or more. It's certainly not good content but that doesn't make the people offering general complaints about RNG or grinding right.
Good to know that you speak for every single person expressing that view on this forum, Worm. Guess I must've misunderstood every single one of them when they said they liked that it was challenging. They didn't actually mean what they said. You sure showed me. Seriously, though, are you that bad at reading or are you just trolling? I already said the lack of challenge wasn't what bothered me, so the fact that dungeons aren't very challenging doesn't really matter at all. I said that to me dungeons were more fun. This is a game, it's supposed to be fun. I don't pay other people to let me work, I get paid for that.
Really, considering in the same post you said that dungeons aren't challenging and then told me I was suggesting something "endlessly more difficult", I'm just assuming you're trolling now.
