People are stupid. Most people looked at Relic weapons as if they were supposed to be as amazing like they were originally in FFXI. I thought the path to get a Zenith Relic was fine. Took 3 weeks of myth capping to upgrade, and the path before that was pretty long. You could burn through it all easily now, but when they first came out, Garuda was tough for people, and Titan was very hard, and many were stuck on it for weeks before getting him down. The old relic path contained 2 unique fights, and wasn't tedious or painful to actually do.
The Animus or Trials of the Brave isn't anything like that. You get RNG low level content for like 12 to unknown amount of hours. followed by AT MINIMUM of 36 tedious hours of farming Mythology tombs with a very VERY efficient group taking in to account an average of 50 myth tombs per 6 minutes, with 2 minutes of slack time every run.
The 9 books that can take about 4-5 hours per to complete depending on luck with fate pops etc. seeing you have to kill 900 mob, complete 27 fates, do 27 leves, and run 27 dungeons to complete that part.
I don't actually mind the Books. I think you should be able to do books without having to farm tombs, but yeah, that would just make to much sense.
I wonder how many people have actually quit over this quest. I know lots of my free company did just because they didn't want to play this game of *that* was going to be how content was done.
Try getting a leviathan weapon instead and use that to get you through second coil and your next step can be to get the rowena + tonestone weapon and high allagan gear. Or if you don't plan on raiding, get neither the atma nor the leviathan weapon and just not worry about it. People cancelling their accounts over atma is pretty extreme. It's an optional quest that didn't exist until last month. It's not required to progress in the main scenario or anything important. If you cancel your account over anything, it should be the very frequent lag and disconnects from the server, not an uninteresting optional quest that was added.
You could easily complete 8 Animus weapons before you see a mirror drop let alone win a roll on one. And depending on what class you play, getting a tombstone weapon isn't realistic for the first couple months unless you don't really take raiding seriously and don't mind your dsp or healers being gimped.
It's not about cancelling the account over anything. It's about sending a message as it seems that SE is now ignoring the community and hitting in the wallet is the last resort. I can also be wrong and maybe only some of us are complaining and the vast majority of player don't mind the ATMA thing. There is always an RNG part in mmorpg but this is going too far and I just fear SE is going down a path I won't follow ^^
I'll take a FFXIV break for a month a see if they change it later.
Hell I'm sure a lot of players would rather run Every dungeon in the roster 12 x per atma, vs the FATE RNG praying to hydealyn for a damn atma as it is now.
I just hate FATEs, I want FATEs to stop being relevant.
Lol what makes you think SE is going to respond to Atma complaints whether there is 1 or 100 complaints. They haven't responded to any other complaint topics people have been posting in the current/past. They already stated this would be a long term commitment.
So what are you going to do when there's a community rep response saying it's working as intended. Is that really going to placate you?
The thing is... it isn't a long term commitment for some... because of its randomness. I've only got 4 atma shards so far. 50 plus fates in one zone no drop... while others are already finished that portion. If it was kill 8000 mobs. Ok I get that. But it isn't. And that's the issue most people have, and all the people saying 'do something else' are usually the ones who got very lucky with the drops and are onto the books. There has to be a middle ground. Time consuming im ok with as long as I see progress. If there was a DR to the chances of a drop... first fate. 2% no drop? 4% still no drop... 6% at least then there is a min/max for the player base to work with and understand
