    Voice Chat

I know this has probably been brought up more times than it should but it just seems like a necessity more than a luxury with FFXIV ARR.

With the Duty Finder partys especially- it would be so much more feasible to do end game content using DF if an in-game party voice chat was available. Plus a party voice chat would take out the aggravation of trying to access a voice server of a stranger who you might never run content with again.

Now we have the release of the PS4 and those players without any other means to hook in their headphones or download a software program for voice chat will be very much at a disadvantage during the end game content.

There was a post from Yoshi-P where he said why there won't be an ingame-VOIP. Harassment concerns, especially towards female gamers, so there needs to be voice changing etc. >_>

As the above post said, they pretty much said there are so many 3rd party alternatives it wouldn't be worth the cost to implement or maintain it (higher bandwidth costs for voice-chat)

Android and iOS devices can use most of the popular voice chat apps that PC players are using (like Mumble).

As someone who never used a voice chat program before joining an FC in this game, I'm perfectly content the way things are? I mean, it MIGHT be nice to have one big, central voice chat, but it's more likely to end up very unpleasant.

Private voice chat is far better...I neither want nor need to hear every person I walk past or party with yapping or (even worse!) whatever awful music they might be blasting over the mic to seem 'cooler'. That last bit might sound silly, but it's been a real issue in some games I've played with in-game voice chat.

That would be REALLY convenient for playstation gamers as typing is a pain in the arse. Though I have yet to try typing with a keyboard while playing with a controller. That would make it a lot better.

I dunno. I mean sure some people are like: "OMG a gurl!" when I talk but, I'd much rather deal with that and have a bit more coordination. Also, I can just listen, I don't have to talk.

White Knight Chronicles I & II (PS3) had in-game voice chat, and it was both a blessing and a curse. I probably wouldn't use the feature if it were added down the line to FFXIV.

I actually prefer using my USB keyboard while playing on my PS3, as opposed to voice chat. Maybe it's just because I'm used to it from FFXI, but the biggest problem I've ever had so far is occasionally juxtaposing two letters in a word when typing in a hurry.

With the amount of harassment that comes through text chat, I shudder to even think of what we'd see with public VOIP...

I wouldn't mind the keyboard at all so long as I could use it and my controller without having to switch settings on the fly. Can you do that in this game? I have the proper set up to enable me to play with both a controller and type with a keyboard. But can I just hit the touch pad and then start typing with the keyboard?
