Hmm, I assume you mean the black shade on the wall? I don't see what it's supposed to resemble. ?_?
I see the darkened area where something should be but I honestly can't make it out from here, will go to Mor Dhona later and see if it becomes more clear in person(sort of).
Its a Creeper, come to blow up Revenant's Toll! D:
I sometimes see this dark 2d image on the ground. It's shaped like a person and follows me around. Meow.
Its in one other spot at Revenant's Toll. Just to the right of Slafborn on the wall.
It looks like something that was accidentaly baked into the scene incorrectly (that would depend in the FFXIV development team actually bake anything at all. (Or it could just be a low resolution shadow cast from a light?)
Its not a shadow of anything. Its on the wall in two different spots.
That's how baking works, for example the image below shows the lighting (lightbounces), shading, shadows, ambient occlusion shading and any light bleeding/influences on surface materials;
Essentially what it does is it bakes the lighting onto the 3D object then applys it as a texture (on top of whatever is marked as static). To lower the rendering cost you can mix baked lighting with real-time lighting to achieve a nice effect (however FFXIV might not have done this)
But it looks like a low quality light bake that's been left applied to that texture.
