Re: Registering FFXIV to SE accounts and PSN ID confusion.

    I have a problem.

I registered a SE account (call it account A) and used it to play the PS4 beta. I understand this in some way linked my PSN ID to this particular SE account?

I've since found the details to an older SE account I have (account B). An account that hasn't been used to play anything, but is preferable as it uses my main email address.

I want to use account B to,

1)Register PS3 version of FFXIV to account B under PSN ID (the same one that is linked to account A). I use the same PSN ID on PS3 and PS4.

2)Migrate license for PS3 version to license for PS4 version.

    3)Play PS4 version on account B

Is this possible or is there going to be some problem here regarding the PSN ID? If there is going to be a problem will closing account A solve it?

I really don't understand how these accounts work, and I don't want to end up registering things now only to find out that there's going to be problems using my preferred account; by which point I'll be stuck.

There is a rule that a given PSN account can only be linked with one SE account. I'd assume that means only one at a time, and that closing SE Account A would enable you to then link the same PSN account to SE Account B, but can't positively verify that.

On the other hand, if the only real advantage of SE Account B is its email address, why not simply update your email address on Account A to your main/current one?

I can't do that at the moment because that email is tied to B and I can't shuffle it over to A. If I use another email I might be able to get it over there in a ridiculous game of musical chairs for want of a better analogy.

I'll give that a try before I go deleting any accounts because I'm fearful that could render some emails unusable indefinitely if the system stiull thinks they are active even if the account is closed.

I managed to shuffle my preferred email address onto the correct account after a lot of messing around, so hopefully I should be free from any PSN ID problems arising when it comes to registering those copies.

Incidentally, deleting the accounts wouldn't have worked. As I suspected, it makes the email associated to it indefinitely unusable; which is pretty ridiculous I have to say.

    Thanks for the help anyway.

    Hey!

I had a similar problem, I created an account for beta phase 1 and then, forgetting I had linked that account to my PSN ID, created a new account to play on PC. When I got beta phase 2 I couldn't log in with the same account I had on my PC because I had already linked the account I created in beta phase 1 to my PSN ID.

SOLUTION: I contacted SE support with a ticket using their chat support system and was able to remove the link from my beta phase 1 account to my PSN ID no problem. however you do need to contact support in order to get this accomplished otherwise there is no other way.
