i think i agree, finding the map first was great, ..took time to adventure and find things. like in mining and botany if u go a grade higher without node finders, by time u get node finder u kinda memorized the area. give us time to really adventure first without a map, make the world feel bigger and badder ...then give us a map by doing something for it.
i still remember spending half a day running around trying to get inside rabaoi entrance, was great to me.
Oh lord...how about "get rid if lalafells" or "get rid of healing actions" too?
i'd assume that if you wanna be lost, just don't look at map lol...or instead of asking to remove features why not asking "Hey, how about we having the option to toggle between minimap and compass widget?" This would be a much more constructive feedback...you would be able to have that camper feeling you had when first started FFXI and went Palborough Mines with no map, oils or powder...only your fearless compass...and ended brutally raped by a horde of Quadavs because your compass lied to you and guided you to upper floor instead of the exit! ^^b
So, in short...some people like maps ^^ Just like some people like the fact you can be teleported to aetherytes even if you never touched it. ^^
just dont look hmm .. thats not the point. even if you can toggle between the two its still gonna be there, and If I do get lost i really wont be cuz I switched it back on. which defeats the purpose.Oh lord...how about "get rid if lalafells" or "get rid of healing actions" too?

I understand the idea, but I don't think it will work with FFXIV right now, since so many areas look the same. It's already confusing.
Are you kidding? This game makes no attempt to hold your hand.
I think it does. Every time you do a leve at the start, you get a new weapon. Also, when you get leves, it tells you the rank, and the area where to go. How does it not hold your hand lol
It says here is how you leve up, here is where you leve up -> points to map -> go

When did a leve five you a weapon when you start it?
I would agree with this topic and I do think having the maps doesn't help promote exploring, however before you remove maps you must do something about The Black Shroud as that would be a complete nightmare to navigate as a new starter without a map.
