The common counter argument to that is that, Levi and the Allagan weapons require end game raiding to obtain.
I don't know how accurate that is, considering I see a lot of Levi weapons out and about, but yeah that is a counter argument.
This is what baffles me. If people aren't doing end-game raiding, what the heck are they lusting after ilvl 100-110 gear for? That stuff is vicious overkill for anything that isn't second coil.
Part of the argument could be how..."simple" it was to get ones first relic. It may have been difficult early in 2.0, by the time I got my relic, it was late in patch 2.1 and everything but Titan HM was on easymode farm, and I have no idea how difficult it was in 1.0.
That being said, it is not far fetched to believe that many has come to view Relics as the "starter" weapon, and thus should be easy (or easier) to obtain and upgrade.
SE going to the extreme and adding a FATE grind was them trying to again kill several birds with as few stones as possible, but that just conflicted with the perception of the relic weapons.
Kind of silly, since relics used to take a dang long time to make (weeks, depending on how frequently you and your FC played!), and Atma's sound like they take just as long (and then just as long again to upgrade). So, just like 2.0 Relics, and people aren't used to the time commitment 2.0 Relics needed. Unlike 2.0 Relics, they're for people who don't want to raid, but still want delicious raider candy.Part of the argument could be how..."simple" it was to get ones first relic. And unlike 2.0 Relics, they aren't an attunement requirement for second Coil. You and your group can kick the door in for that and start getting the sweet, sweet i100 loot any time after you've cleared the now-nerfed first.
I don't really mind the Atma grind as it is. As i move through an area to get to a beast quest or to do some gathering, i stop and run a few fates on the way and move on. My only complaint is that I need 12 free spots in my inventory for all the atmas. They should be treated as Key items and dumped into the Key Items bag (like the rest of the relic items aside from the weapon itself). And if the atmas actually looked different from each other it might be nice to tell which ones you had. There are twelve atmas to get and twelve zodiac signs, why do they all look like red polished teeth?
I absolutely agree with everything you've said here. The whole Atma gathering thing just seems like it was not well thought-out, and just lazily and hastily thrown together.I don't really mind the Atma grind as it is.
