This is stupid (Not your post), we have come so far in tech. why is this necessary?I think there is a finite limit of instances that SE can handle via there hardware our game engine at once so like 15 (made up number) groups will be able to go at once. This is also why I think you have to in a party of 4 or 8 to enter (in addition to making it easier for them to balance content.

Possible different context: It has been made clear that the dungeons require a specific number of people in the party to enter. The R30 dungeon MUST have 4 party members. Not 3, not 5.
Perhaps this reservation system involves you being unable to book to a spot in the dungeon, then go off and do something else till it's ready to go. First 4 people to arrive? In they go, keeping it simple. Of course this has it's own set of implications for existing parties.
Just thought I'd throw a curve-ball at what might be plausible...
Ew, really? I have fond memories on various MMOs of getting together with smaller than recommended groups and challenging ourselves to lowman as far as we could into dungeons. Bummer - did they say what the rationale was?
I guess if it's really one at a time a la Dynamis, maybe they just don't want people lowmanning and taking longer than a full group theoretically would. Otherwise, I don't know the rationale.

It's going to be very difficult to increase the playerbase if the only dungeons lock people out on a first come, first serve basis... People won't want to stand there waiting.
Well with all the problems they have with the servers this would not surprise me, however I still think they mean it will allow a certain amount of groups to run it at the same time in their own instance. I don't think they could handle 1000 groups all trying at once so it will have a limit somewhere. Maybe 20 groups at a time it certainly won't be 1 group at a time surely.
I don't recall their ever saying that you couldn't take in 5+ people to the lower dungeon, but they did say that you need 4. As I recall, the reason was something about not being sure their servers could handle it if a bunch of r50s decided to solo the lower content, causing the servers to have to make more instances. Not that that's a good excuse, of course. . .Ew, really? I could of sworn that was something Yoshida said was a reason the update was being delayed, maby I was just reading speculation though... don't remember exactly.
I will wait for a official release, I have a feeling you cannot reserve it but it will be at a first come first serve system... meaning it can Hold X groups, once all those spots are taken you have to wait... The question is what is the X value.
If that's seriously how they're doing it, the X value had best be so high we never have to wait. Waiting for open-world stuff is expected; waiting for instanced content is beyond stupid.I could of sworn that was something Yoshida said was a reason the update was being delayed, maby I was just reading speculation though... don't remember exactly.
