The view from Rathefrost

I was fishing in Mor Dhona today and the weather was clearer than usual (seems that pink fog is always around) and saw this in the distance:



What is that? Some of what is visible in there looks like a giant dragon wing; is that Turn 1 of Coil from the outside (i.e. the ceiling over Caudecus' area)?

Our immediate descent is thought to be below Castrum Occidens, though later cutscenes reveal that the binding coil is likely extremely large and covers much of subterranean Eorzea. So, maybe? Or could that be his other wing...

Actually, I believe that's the remains of the downed Garlaen airship that Midgardsormr took out (along with his remains). Which, I'm really hoping becomes a dungeon in the future.

You can get closer to that area if you go north to the Singing Shards. It's a fallen piece of Dalamud like the entrances to Coil, but the first Coil dungeon is actually far to the southwest, between Vylbrand and Carteneau. It's not his wing, just the pattern on the crystal dome that's formed around the piece of Dalamud.

I haven't found much to go on about the piece, though I've been more focused on Version 1.0 things; to me it looks like a chunk of Dalamud's shell (but with all the 1562 airship debris added recently, who knows). It looks to be of a far larger construct than the chunk of Agrius seen in Silvertear Lake, and Agrius was their flagship. My original theory was that we'd go from the coil under the Castrum to the coil under Fallgourd to the coil under the Burning Wall and then possibly explore whatever Boulder Downs is before finally confronting Bahamut in that giant dome... but... Turns 6-9 changed a lot (including Nael van Darnus' gender pronouns on his FFWiki article because lol only watching half the spoilers) and it's time to rethink and reevaluate whether that's still the most likely scenario.

No, his corpse+ship is in the middle of the lake to my right (out of the picture).
