PS4 phase 2 beta character question

hey guys when I created my chara for the ps4 phase 2 beta it said Gilgamesh was unavailable for new characters and asked me a question about waiting for an open spot. well when I clicked yes it started with the opening scene and when I came to control my chara I noticed in the chat log it said welcome to Jenova.

Since this happened will I end up having to pay the transfer fee to get on Gilgamesh with my friends/family???

If you've become so attached to that character that you just can't give it up, yes. Otherwise, you can create a new character on Gilgamesh when it's open.

well im attached to the name more than anything. so i didnt know if it wouldnt let me use my name again on gilgamesh.

thought it would be ironic that a galka player from ffxi gilgamesh would be on the ffxiv gilgamesh playing a roegadyn.

You can search for characters on the lodestone to see if the name is taken.

When you name a character, that name is only reserved to you on that world where your character lives. Other worlds could have other characters with the same name. So this would only be an issue if somebody else already has the same name on Gilgamesh. And in that case, transferring your existing character wouldn't help. (If you try transferring a character to a world that already has someone else with the same name, it would make you change your name to something that's unique on the destination world.)

You'll just have to weigh picking a new name vs. leaving your friends and family if it's taken on gilgamesh.

As said above - the names can be the same on other worlds - I have one same name on characters on multiply worlds.
