Your Character's Name

I always try to get into the lore of the game I am playing, so my character's name is following what I understand to be Au Ra's naming conventions from doing a small amount of research before I started playing. Yes I am that nerdy. I don't want to regret my name later on once I get super familiar with the game.

Tsuki Windwalker fits my style and how I understand the lore.

Thing only thing I don't like about my name is that I wish I wouldn't have made it so long! Everyone tries to shorten it in chat (which is fine, I would too) but I've seen it shortened 10 different ways and no one ever seems to agree on how to pronounce the shortened version. No one can tell if shortened it's pronounced like the word "duke" (the correct way) or "deuce" (which is spelled similarly but incorrect). It's annoying enough sometimes even to me that I may have to change it someday. lol. Now if I could just figure out a way to incorporate the old name into a shorter version!

I just created a new account after a year hiatus, but my first character's name was Bruce Wayne, the inspiration should be obvious.

My character's first name is shortened from "Yagarashi", which I just randomly though up to be my character name across content when I was little. I soon realized how annoying that was to say over and over though, so I shortened it to "Rashi" as his nickname. Over the years, I developed the character himself, gave him a backstory and traits and such, and doing so has affected how I design him across content since.....

The last name "Shadowblade" isn't his last name, as he doesn't have an actual one, but is rather one given him by his enemies over time. It comes from the solid black katana he wields in most of the content I place him in, as well as the fact that he is a swift assassin, striking without mercy from the shadows. Over time though, it stopped being simply a title used by his enemies, but rather one used by all but his closest allies as a sign of respect. As such he is know as "Rashi" to his friends, and "Shadowblade" to those who are not as close. I actually really enjoy this last aspect being naturally integrated into the NPC dialog of ARR, as ones who aren't as close to you tend to call you by your last name rather than your first, which fits into the lore behind my character a bit better than I would have expected.....

My old name was Antonio Xul which came from what would of been my stage name if my friends & I would of formed a Black Metal band, Anton Xul. I just changed it to Antonio to spice it up a bit. After playing for a while, I disliked being called Ant, so I needed to change it and came up with Edgar Xerxes. The 1st name I renamed after my father (may he rest in peace) and the last name was my chocobo's name, but I like it so much I decided to take it as my own. Xerxes originally came from Family Guy (Peter Griffin's pet falcon).

Akashi started when I was very young and I made a female character in Phantasy Star Online. I named her after a bridge my grandma showed me when she visited Tokyo. I used it as my tag for both Smash Brothers Melee (I play it competitively), for my Female Elvaan in XI, and now in XIV. Mousai is the Greek word for Juturna, which is the goddess of entertainment and music. Since I'm a bard, I thought it'd be a nice nod towards their mythology .

Fahzewn: I just made the name up from thin air pretty much some 10 or so years ago. I played Everquest on the PS2 and wanted to make what I thought sounded like an Elvish name for my Ranger. Pretty much the name I've used for the main MMOs I play with other names for the lesser ones I play.

Jukuren: Not sure how well translated it is when looking it up, but from what I've seen/read, it's the Japanese word for dexterity; skilled or along those lines.
