Your Character's Name

For my main character (in the signature), I wanted to make a lore appropriate and soft sounding name which I think are pretty rare for Roes. I searched some nice sounding words in the Roe dictionary and ended up with the cheesy name Love Gatherer, daughter of New Moon. The last name isn't actually from her father (who is unknown) but from her nameday / time of birth.

If there weren't any naming conventions I would've used my forum name which was the name of my first WoW character. I saw it in Unreal Tournament 2003 and thought it sounded nice.

Years ago when a couple friends and I were re-rolling to be in the same area on FFXI, my friend was singing the Buckcherry song "Sorry" to us. I decided we should all use the song. I was rolling a BLM and thought "sorry you're blue" as Sahree Yurblu was appropriate. WHM went Eymsor Ryambad and WAR was Bukcheri Roxu. It still makes me laugh.

The looking glass wars' Alyss Heart. I needed something else for a second character name in another game I played so I used Alyss Sin. Alyss-Sin became my xbox live name back before swapping my 360 for a ps3. People were just calling me Allison even though I'm not female. I dropped and S and shortened it to Alyssin. I've been using it for everything since. Girlfriend and I needed a name for both of our characters that matched and went well with our first names. So after like 2 weeks we came up with Kiger to get Alyssin Kiger & Amreatta Kiger. I still get Alyssa, Alyssasin, or Alys which all drive me crazy but that's other peoples inability to read, not mine.

I went with Sevyrr as a name I've used for male characters in a lot of games, spawning from when I used to fail really bad at Path of Exile's hardcore leagues as a duelist.
The idea of it was that he would sever his enemies' heads, and is an idealistic spelling on that. (It does bring some rather entertaining pronunciation attempts from people on TS though!)

and Flamesong is a lore-based family name for Highlanders. The story is a headstrong idiot wants to honour his family, but have his own identity, so stopped using his birth-name.

Aillith Odendaal
Have been using 'Aillith' for years now - found it in a list of old-timey names used in the 12th century (originaly spelt 'Ailith') and it stuck.
The surname is from a doctor I worked with for some time - Dr. Odendaal - it's a standard south african surname, but I thought it sounded pretty neat and fit into the whole fantasy world setting.

She doesn't know I pinched her surname, and I would be very embarassed irl if she ever found out!

Ironically when i picked my name i had no idea where it was actually from...i just wanted a Heroic style name. Most will probably guess where it is from...which makes it really bad.

Well in FFXI i when by the name Ageofwar which people kept shortening it to Age so.....
when i had to choose a first name and surname for I choose a first name of Age and surname of ofwar (Ha ha screw the lot of you for shortening my name)

My name is two-fold.

It was born out of a quality of life name change I made in another game. I was originally Evangeline (no reference to Negima, just liked the name). But there was another Evangeline in that community as well. They were "Eva", I was "Vangie". If we were ever in the same party/lobby, one of us had to type in caps to distinguish ourselves, so when name changes became available, I became Lace. For that game, and almost every other I play.

The namesake inspired a main character of a work of fiction I'm slowly writing. "Valeria" was a random pick surname for this game, but also got worked into my writing.

I have 4 characters and they all have special names to me.

My Bard/Dragoon- Iver--archer in Norse...I believe? Don't quote me on that--Deschain--the last name of the main character from Stephen King's Dark Tower series, I originally intended to be a machinist aka gunslinger but haven't gotten to it so far.

My Ninja- Xhex Symphath--Xhex is the name of a character from J. R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, she's a badass ninja. Symphath is what she is. One of my favorite book characters.

AST/BLM- Dzoldzoya Oronir-- The naming conventions for Xaela stated that they are Mongolian names, so I did some searching around and came to Dzoldzaya, which means "light of destiny". I ended up misspelling it but I'm okay with that. Oronir is one of the tribe names for the Xaela, which, from the naming convention page, states "All members of the Oronir tribe believe themselves to be direct descendants of Azim, the tribe's goddess of the sun." I felt it was fitting for one named light of destiny

My DRK/WAR-- Kaida Wakahisa-- she WAS a raen au ra, which have japanese naming conventions, but I ended up settling on lady roe for my final race. Her name may change at some point, but for now it basically means something like "little dragon" "eternal life" or something. I wanted something with some kind of draconic meaning because she was a lizard girl for a while.

I have so many characters because I want to, I know I don't have to, but I enjoy a different face and personality
