Your Character's Name

[Saseal]

I forgot if I replied to this thread a long time ago.... checked up to about page 14 and gave up the search.

Saseal Korei - "Saseal" was just a butchered way my sister and I used to say Cecil's name (from FFIV) when we were little and playing the SNES version. 'Korei' was the last name I made up when I created my FFXIV ARR beta character (Saiyaku Korei), so I made Saseal and my bard, Taiga, his sons o_O As they both share 'Korei' as the last name.

Taiga Korei - His name just came to me - then I just re-used the last name

Zhyneel Yhala - My lala's name was inspired by a specific gryphon in 'The Black Gryphon', by Mercedes Lackey. I used to read that book, and some of the following books, a lot when I was younger. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure what made me think back on the books right then o_O (haven't read them in like..... 10+ years)

Fenrir Fullgrey - Fen was sort of already pre-created in an ongoing chat RP. I just decided to make him in the game, too, to play as an "I'm not feeling social so I'm staying out of the FC" character. I don't think I have much reasoning for his naming, either - it just sort of popped at me when I initially created him out-of-game. He didn't have a last name, though, so... I sort of pulled inspiration from FairyTail really fast when I realized the in-game Fen needed a surname o_O
So... 'Fullgrey' was just a, "uuuuhhh..... *looks around room... spots keychain* ...... >.> Better than nuthin' *Smashes pieces of names around till it sounds do-able-ish* Th-there.... yeah... |||OTL"

My character's name "Kuzie" originates from a vendor in WoW named Cuzi. I imagined it being pronounced "Kooh-Zee" and thought it sounded cute. At first I just appended an E at the end to make it "Cuzie," but some people pronounced it "Cuz-ee" so I started spelling it with a K.

The last name I made up, I wanted a repetition of the "ku" sound, then tried a few different sounds from a hiragana chart and settled on "ri" to make Kukuri.

I am a programmer by trade, and deal with syntax and Arrays quite often. I wanted a name that reflected my background. Sometimes I name my chars Array, or something of the like.
But annoyingly FFXIV forces a forename and a surname, so I had to split may name into 2 parts. (Luckily Anna is a name anyways), so I went with Anna Rhae, in order to sound like "An Array".

I made it up and thought it sounded pretty so I just went with it. Although I often get people talking to me as if there's a reference I'm supposed to get that also uses the names Kaeris and Klyne...but I've never seen either name come up elsewhere in anything I've read/watched/heard.

I was gonna be a mage when I started so I called myself Luna as in Luna from harry potter. And crystal because.. well its final fantasy related

My characters name is Anera Lyra, Arena read backwards become Anera and Lyra is a Constellation

I made my character back in the 1.0 beta before we had race naming conventions, so I was left to my own devices.

Seniade is a reference to a character from a fantasy novel titled Doppelganger. The character was almost never called by her real name, normally referred to by hear guild name Mirage (which is my chocobo's name). The name originally fit compared to the character in that I mainly played melee classes (the character was physically adept but terrible with magic), but by the end of 1.0 and into ARR I've been mainly playing healer.

For Auhelia, when messing around with the character creator in 1.0, I found a hair & highlight combination that with the lighting gave almost an illusion of metallic golden streaks. Combined with the Seeker of the Sun sub-race, I got Au (chemical symbol for gold) + helia (from Helios, the Greek god of the Sun).

Eulios = "Eul's Scepter" from DotA with adding some variety word

Ceyena = "Maiden Cayena" from Brave Frontier (I realized I do typo on this name after I create my character)

When I was a little kid, I met a kid at Girl Scout camp named Mandze, and my wee self was incredibly impressed by her amazing name. It was like Mandy, but with a Z in it... nifty! When I was a little bit older, I wrote a story and used that name for one of the characters. The character was a badass wizard, so thereafter, whenever I made a magic user in a game, she wound up being Mandze.
