Syn (my online persona since PSO & FFXI) is a play on Sin, I think the "Y" in place of the "I" makes it look cool, and Maris is latin for Sea, however its also a tribute to an old friend from XI who passed away a long time ago Giomaris.

So just for fun:

What influenced your main character's name? Was it something silly? Something you've read in the past? Your favorite anime or Final Fantasy character?

For me, I chose "Deucalion" after the main character from Dean Koontz's "Frankenstein" series. The last name "Promethuson" being the fact that in Greek mythology, Deucalion was the son of Prometheus.

So what about the rest of you? What's the meaning/history of your character's name?

My character's name is the alias I created for my normal name. Similar to what an actor sometimes does when he becomes famous. So i have experience with acting and choir performance. So this is the name i chose. how i came up with was totally random although i went there for the acronym CP as a start because i was imitating Christopher poole creator of 4chan.

Mine is Kingdom Hearts inspired. Their whole Darkness/Light theme.

Azure is a color of a blue sky at midday, while dusk is when the sky starts turning dark. 'The closer you get to the light, the greater your shadow becomes' is an idea behind combining those since you usually wouldnt associate darkness with midday. And it also has a degree of hope in it, since it could be that a dusk is actually turning light blue, so...it becomes dawn xD yaah...I played too much of that game

Yeah i actually see what you did there entirely. The level of quality is reminiscent of what i think you would expect from a fantasy author like Tolkien himself.

[Mutemutt]

Well, I usually go by Mutemutt online for pretty much everything, but I wanted a lore friendly name for this game. I remembered that people would shorten Mutemutt to just Mumu and so I decided to go for a lala name to try and land the same nickname; I'd grown attached to it after all. And boom! Mumuki Muki.

I didn't get the Mumu name though. It's Mum instead. Still, that's grew on me too.

My very fist MMO was FFXI many, many moons ago. Being new to the genre I was unfamiliar to the naming convention so I scrolled through the list SE provided til Rizon caught my eye. Brought it over to FFXIV in 2010 using the naming service associated with 1.0. Sad but true.
