Kimikryo was something I came up with in FFXI. I wanted something that sounded Japanese, but than again also as if mithran when written in arabic letters
鬼魅 Demon 苦 Pain/Fear 竜 Dragon 鬼魅苦竜 Kimik(u)ryo or also 気味 Feeling 苦竜 Feardragon
Torahige 虎髭 Tigerwhiskers Just seemed to fit back than
An alt of mine is named Torakage (虎陰) Tigershadow
Sheesh how bored was I back than![]()
took me longer to chose the name than make the character during 1.0 .. and that took me like really long.
I normally go by Arbaal, but I played DCUO and made a fire chick with a lava body, and always liked the name Olivia. So I came up with Lavalivia. It didnt fit the ff14 theme, so I removed the "va", and came up with Lalivia. Loved the name ever since.
Mine main is Reeses. I was sitting around thinking of a name, and as I was eating my Halloween reeses cup it hit me.
Mine was inspired by an anime (yes I know... more anime :P), I don't remember the name of it but there was a character named L-Elf, but when they pronounced it it sounded like "Erel", then I had to think in a last name, one day playing Dissidia 012, Cosmos was talking to some one who said he was a "Lufenian" so I decided to use that as my last name. Then the game lore stated that for Lalas, my name and last must finish in the same syllable, so I added "ian" to my name but I didn't like how it sounded, so I added an "F" to my name and a " D' " to my last name. All that was way before Beta stage 3![]()
I always struggled to settle on aliases, especially in fantasy games where it feels like you really want to have something unique.
Around the time of Skyrim's release I decided it was about time I put some serious thought into a name to call my own. After going through a few fantasy-ish sounding corruptions of existing names, I settled on Aeliott (from Elliot). And no it's not my real name :P
FFXIV is the first occasion where I've had to add a surname. I settled on it pretty quickly though, as it felt appropriate in a lot of ways.
I recalled the musical term Cadenza after using a soundfont by the same name for a MIDI. My heart was already set on maining Monk - and given its fast paced and intricate style as well as my love of music, I didn't take much time to consider other options. The Italian origin also makes it sound very European and FFVI-like (Figaro, Gabiani, Kefka Palazzo etc) which I liked very much.![]()
Honestly? I have no idea. I just know that the structure of lore-friendly names for Hellsguard Roegadyn are usually two english words: An adjective first name and a noun second name. I guess "Burning Passion" just popped into my head and it just kinda stuck.
I figured mine sounded quite catchy when creating my character. Then I later had a second thought and realised "Menfist Valentino" sounded like an Italian porn star. At least it makes me unique in every way.
My character Kat Manx is named after a character from the television series Power Rangers: SPD. ^.^;
