The first name Panik came from the character from the Duelist Kingdom episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh
The last name Cinestar is a play on words for Sinister. Pronounced the exact same way, so really my name is :
Panic Sinister

My Lalafell is Fizzle Dizzle. And I was listening to Snoop during character creation, and thought it'd be congruous with how Lala NPC's names are.
Fo shizzle dizzle.

I'm a real fan of Dark Souls series and one of my favorite char is Artorias, that's why my surname is Art![]()
Lanfear is a Robert Jordan reference, Sessurea is a Robin Hobb reference. To explain further would be pretty difficult....

Sirantha is a reference to a series of books by Ann Aguirre, and Swift was the surname of my first D&D character.![]()

Fufufu~
Robert Ackerman? You'll never guess the true meaning behind the name!!!
In FFXI I had a Tarutaru called, Faerie. I wanted to recreate her but needed two names. I chose a Cornish name, and Fae rolled off the tongue easier than Faerie so Lowena Fae was born.
Lowena means bliss or happiness.

Since FFXI i’ve been using Japanese names for my characters, but in FFXIV i wanted to go in a different direction.
When i started off in 1.0, i wanted to create a Miq’ote who lived and breathed in the forest. Because if this, i thought it would be nice to come up with a name that would suit the area she “grew up” in, so i figured that a Celtic name would fit nicely. I searched the internet for Celtic sounding names with a hint of “Cat” in it.
Eventually i settled for “Caitlyn Aldora”.
But, as more and more information was released for 2.0, we got the confirmation that we could change our names at the release of 2.0. That made me think… I really wanted to change my name that would fit the Miq’ote race better. The Twelve had granted me my wish, because Gildrein created a “Lore” section on the Forums with a set of Naming Conventions for each race.
My quest for a new name began! \(^_^ )/
But… How should i go about deciding a new name for myself? \(^_^; )/
Hmmm… /think
As mentioned in the Keeper of the Sun naming convention, the first name of a female Keeper of the Sun will always begin with the letter representing her tribe, followed by an apostrophe, and then her given name.
I wanted to keep a reference to a “Cat”, so i looked through the list of Keeper of the Sun tribe names for a tribe with a reference to a cat, which in this case was the “Coeurl”. Since this letter, representing her tribe, is pronounced as a short “Ka”, i looked for a word which used a similar pronunciation. Since the main theme of Final Fantasy usually revolves about “Crystals”, the first name of my character turned into “C’rysta”.
Her last name is the first name of the tribe’s breeding male who sired her.
Since the Female Keepers of the Sun carry the name of their fathers (breeding males of the tribe) as their last name, i used the name of my 1.0 Alt, “Zeith”. But, i decided to branch off from the Naming conventions by not making “Zeith” a breeding male from the tribe. Because of this, “Zeith” wasn’t a Nuhn but a Tia.
So, because of this her name would be:
Rysta of the Coeurl tribe, sired by C’zeith Tia.
In short:
C’rysta Zeith
I didn’t want to just change my name from “Caitlyn Aldora” to “C’rysta Zeith”, so i’ve written a background story about how that name change came to be. I’ve uploaded this story to my Lodestone blog for everyone to see.
So, if you’re interested, take a look at Rysta of the Coeurl, sired by C'zeith Tia.

I love reading threads like this. Can't really shed too much light on my own name... I tend to throw everything at the screen and see what sticks. I am mostly inspired by differently mythologies and I like mixing names from different cultures and usually like to try to come up with something unique.
When I made a Miqo'te I felt that she needed a very short name and was having a hard time settling.
Aife (Aoife) from Celtic Mythology, also meaning "Radiant" (Pronounced Ee-fah)
Elka in Hebrew meaning "Best" or "Superior"
Noa in Japanese meaning "My love, affection"
Not really sure the validity of any of the above definitions, to be honest... but I remember liking how they all sounded together so.. like... yolo or whatever.![]()
My mother told me I had a chameleon soul, no moral compass pointing due north, no fixed personality; just an inner indecisiveness that was as wide and as wavering as the ocean...
