In FFXI I had a mule named Noergi that received the name by the name generator. As for my first name, I used a name generator for FFXIV and Sabba was a portion of it. I really wanted to use Noergi since I always liked the sound of it, so Sabba Noergi was born. Not the most interesting story though.

Kinda wish I hadn't gone with Ellen, but I wanted my character to sound kind of military. I just went with randomized last names until I got one I liked.

Sarail: Comes from my origins of playing SNES RPGs and naming the main female character in my parties this name. When FFXI launched, I knew immediately I'd be "Sarail" without a doubt. Clay: My middle name is Clayton, and I use Clay as my stage name/surname. It was only natural that I gave Sarail this last name, too. Welcome to my digital family, Sarail! ^^

My character name comes from back in WoW, I was thinking of a good name for my Blood Elf (back when I thought you could fight with Kael'thas, alongside "with") and that's where I thought of "Fairytails".

Since it was my healer I called my FF character Fairy Tails too .

Mordru was my guy in XI. He's an evil wizard I always liked from the Legion of Super Heroes comic book, and I had eyes for only mage jobs at the time. If I had known how long I would be playing that game (I expected to last a month...lol), I probably would have went for something less tied to another media, or at least messed with it a bit. But it was what it was for a decade.

Anyway, I had a LS leader who could never pronounce the second "r" over Vent, so I was just Dru from then on. So for XIV I moved the Mor to the end, naturally thought of Morgana and made it... male I guess. When I think about it, it's kind of a long winded story for something so normal sounding!

My name Has a small history behind it. Many years ago I sat down to make an original character. I pulled up a hand full of pictures, mostly of anime/video game girls, and started putting together in my mind how I wanted her to be. At the core of it all was a single picture of a red haired girl in a simple yet cool outfit, I didn't know who she was but she started the idea of a short red haired sword fighter and it went from there. As I like knight swords and armor better then Japanese weapons and armor I wanted a European sounding name. Not wanting to use a real name, as people might track it back to history or a book/movie I didn't know about I made up the name "Helion" from the name Helena. But there's more to the story. About 5 month or so after I made the name up I started to lose interest in it as it just didn't seem like a girls name. So I pulled up my idea pictures again and started sounding out their many names and thinking about how well they fit in their own worlds, trying to make up one that fit for my character. It was at this time that I noticed something on the picture start started it all, a single line of Japanese text followed by a company name and copy/year right at the bottom in very small text. One Google search later I found out it was a company that made Japanese pc games (*r18 H-games, google any of this AT YOUR OWN RISK!). After finding the game with this girl in it I went to it's character section, finally I'd know this nameless girls name, I could use it as an idea for a new name for my own character. The page loaded, and just as I'd hoped the name was written in both Japanese and English, the name "Helion B. Lasfolt". The girls name was Helion, just like my own name that I'd made up. To me it was no coincidence, it was something bigger something telling me to keep using that name right when I was about to stop using it. And so to this day Helion Advensten has always been my name.

For Advensten it was a mistake from the DS game "Knights in the Nightmare". I tapped the screen one to many times and missed the name of the kingdom that games set in. My mind auto-filled in the gap and named it Advensten as all I saw before the text changed was an A at the start of a long word. After learning the kingdoms real name (Aventheim) I kept the name and later gave it to Helion as a last name.

My roommate was helping me pick a name for FFXI back in 04 and we kept getting denied trying vulgar words until we tried Taint and it worked. Played on Taint from 04 until switching to ffxiv. I made numerous 14 characters most of them around Dark Taint or something similar since I was a longtime DRK main. Ultimately landed on Sir Taint as my final name.
