An idle question to non-legacy players

As a legacy character, at the end of the original main story line, after killing Ultima Weapon etc, there's a moment where 'the penny drops' so to speak among the gathered NPCs and they all somehow remember who you were pre-V2.

It's the part where they're all gathered outside the Praetorium assuming the worst (before you magestically charge out on Maggie with Thancred in tow).

Is there anything similar for non-legacy characters?

It's hard to describe, so apologies if I'm being vague. Has anyone completed it on legacy and non-legacy characters and knows what I'm getting at?

Probably just an excerpt of passage that is left out for non-legacy. I vaguely remember a gathering of NPC's in the last cutscene similar to what you described, but nothing to those effects of words said to us. They most likely replaced it with something vague like "A new adventurer came into our land and preserved it for all of us, even though it wasn't his/her true home." It has been a long time since I finished the storyline so I can't remember exact words used, but I definitely don't remember being recognized in any extravagant way. I'm not sure what they could actually replace that particular passage with for non-legacies anyway. We weren't around for 1.0

We did get a very long list of PC names who beat the original 1.0 storyline in our credits after the final CS played, but I doubt that has anything to do with what your trying to ask.

Well, firstly, the term 'Legacy' to describe the special alternate storyline some 1.0 players get is misleading, as not all 1.0 players have this storyline (only those who passed the Lunar transmitter fight got this slightly different storyline, all other 1.0 players have the 'standard'/'new player' story), such as myself - really 'Legacy' refers to the Legacy Campaign which had no connection to how much content you completed in game (I have Legacy status myself and I never did any of the '7th Umbral Era' story in 1.0).

As for what the ending dialogue that those who got the 'standard' storyline was (that is, the majority of players regardless whether they're a 1.0 player or a new player), give me a few moments, and I'll type it all up here.

Serpent Scout: "My lady! All Twin Adder units have fallen back to the outer perimeter!"
Flame Scout: "The Flames have completed their withdrawal, General!"
Storm Scout: "Admiral! All hands accounted for!"

As a non-legacy character, no. That moment you get as a legacy character simply doesn't happen as non-legacy. Which kind of is a shame, since I watched someone's cs (via youtube) who had it and it was kinda nifty I thought.

We're both still known as The Warrior of Light though, Legacy or no. So in the end it actually makes little difference, but it was interesting still.

And I'm aware that not all 1.0 players are legacy players and not all legacy players have characters with the legacy mark. It's just a simple shorthand way of saying characters with the legacy mark (I assume all Lmark characters got the extended scene)

No, they didn't - the 'mark' simply identified that character as being a character transferred from version 1.0 - all 1.0 characters got that mark, and it had nothing to do with Legacy status or how far you got in the storyline (the later of which was the deciding factor whether or not you got the 'special' storyline with the opening of the character 'warping' in and Minfilia remembering who you were, and the special extra bit of dialogue in the ending where everyone finally remembers who you are and everything you did in 1.0.).

Unfortunately SE made this whole thing rather confusing, using the term 'Legacy' loosely to describe contradictory things. But ah well.

At several points in the storyline, the NPCs make reference to the forgotten heroes, and it seemed to me that the game was implying that my character WAS among those heroes, and has either been inflicted with the same amnesia about it as everyone else, or is keeping silent about her involvement.

Perhaps for Legacy characters, the connection is made more explicit, but that was the impression that I got: that my character is one of the forgotten ones. I may have been reading too much into it, though.

They're just referencing the characters from 1.0 that went into stasis for five years (NPCs don't know this) and haven't been seen since then. (but they have, they just can't remember due to some amnesic effects from the result of the bright light that engulfed the area as Bahamut fired off his Megaflare in the cinematic)

I noticed in the intro cutscenes to coil Turn 7 and 9 that various characters refer to me (a 1.0 player) as the one who personally defeated Nael van Darnus 5 years ago. Does anyone know what they say about you if you're not legacy/1.0?

Ah, I thought the legacy mark and the legacy chocobo were only for those that fulfilled the requirements of the new storyline. But, come to think of it, my level 3 THM mule has both.
