So... Almost level 50. What to do?

So WAR will hit 50 in the next couple nights. What should I be concentrating on at that point? I run my daily Beast Tribes now and I assume I need to get to the next tier of armor and weapon but I'm not sure what that is or where to get it. Will I just be buying it with Tomestones or should I be concentrating on certain dungeons. For that matter, what is the next tier of armor over your job gear lol?

I just hit 50 with my SMN last night (my first character) and I'm curious about this topic as well. I assume I need to finish up the main story, but not sure what else to be working on other than my Kobold daily quests.

Hi,

Advance in the story is a good thing

Then you will unlock the lvl 50 dungeons, and start working on your relic (zenith weapon)

Try some dungeons wanderer's palace (WP) and Amdapor Keep (AK) once confident move on more difficult content.
Your relic (chimera, hydra, ifrit, garuda, titan Hard Modes (HM) )

You can farm primals HM or king mog for weapons

You can also unlock Crystal Tower if you have friends or good FC you can be carried to equip with iLvL80

You will get tomes doing that that will allow you to buy equipment

Run Ultima HM, go for harder dungeons (Copper bell HM, Haukke HM, Pharos Sirius)

Get your Relic.. ( )

Run even harder dungeons - expert- ( Halatali HM, Brayflox HM, Lost city of Amdapor)

Start doing Binding Coil of Bahamut.

Equip yourself. Get your Relic

Start doing Extreme mode Primals.

about Tiers of equipment. I find better to talk about iLvl as it is what they show us and you have :

50 (what you usually start with)
55 , 60, 65 (first dungeon drops)
70(expert dungeons)
80 (Crystal tower)
90 (bought or dropped in Coil 1)
95 (dropped in coil 1 or Leviathan Extreme or bought with tokens from Ifrit/Garuda and Titan Extreme)
100 (bought or dropped or upgraded Zenith to atma/Animus)
110(upgraded with a drop)
115 (dropped in coil 2)

Once you are there I guess you don't need anymore advice.

So my relic weapon will drop from one of HM primals you mentioned?

And as far as armor, I'll just be buying upgrades from Revenant's Toll at first correct? Which type should I go for? There's Weathered stuff, Warrior stuff, etc. Just go by stats?

The relic will not drop, it is a quest where at one point you have to kill those primals HM.
But Primal sHM for this quest do drop weapons that are very nice.

For armor you will start with drops from dungeons while you are collecting the tomes that allows you to buy from revenants toll.
Dungeon will give you tomes (Mythology and Soldiery) and loot. And with tomes you will be able to buy afterwards some loot.

Weathered is the best you can buy but you can only collect 450 soldiery tomes per week.

Aim for loot at first, and amass mythology. And buy some Mythology equipment.
You are a Tank, there is so much a healer can do to keep you alive, we cannot do miracles if you are one shot.

Once you get some equipment you can start Crystal Tower, gives nice armor iLvL 80, "easy" to do if people know their are doing. It is a raid with 24 people.

Don't worry nice people in game will help you, and if you don't have a Free company yet I is time to maybe find one

For gear, the very first things I would do is load up on HQ i49 jewelry from the market board and a weapon from either your GC or the market board, depending on your funds. The GC weapons are entry level and should be enough to get you through the main story and the HM primals. Market board weapons are better, but price is a factor, especially when you're also going to be buying a weapon and materia for your relic quest. The jewelry is usually cheap enough, and you can spiritbind and convert it to get back some of the gil, if not make a profit.

From there, just unlock and run whatever you can unlock and run. Pretty much everything you do leads to upgrades one way or another. If you're struggling with whatever you've just unlocked, fall back a bit until you get an upgrade or two. (Unless it's not your gear that's the problem; gear only gets you so much with the HM primals, for example.)

I've been keeping up with GC so that's good. I basically upgrade to the next GC weapon as soon as it's available. And our FC will be up by this weekend. We'll have 4 50s by that point to run primals so feel pretty good about that too. It's much easier doing this stuff with people you know though I really haven't had a bad experience pugging up to this point.

With my mate...we did Amdapor/Wanderers for a few i55 gears to replace those he did not have, then move on to Pharos/Haukke/Copperbell for the i60 pieces. During this you will be gaining Phil (Myth now?), and at around i55 can do Ifrit for his wepon (While starting your jobs relic). Once confident complete Garuda/Titan HM, for progression, relic and/or weapon drop.

Once you've received a primal weapon / relic, venture into Brayflox/ Halitali / Amdapor 2 for i70 drops, and i90 tomes. You can also participate in Crystal Tower which drops i80 in an alliance setting.

This will end you at i90, gathering i100 (Soldier....yes, i know) tomes with everyone else.
