    Game crashes

So, I just bought a new laptop and of course instantly installed FFXIV, and everytime I input my login then press play from the launcher, it crashes. I've restarted several times, run as admin, reinstalled several times from both the main page and a torrent that was proven to work on a different computer, changed my password, updated/reinstalled my graphics driver and sacrificed a virgin. I'm at my wit's end. If it matters and/or anyone cares, SimCity works fine. I haven't tried any other games, this laptop is literally days old.

Here is my computer info: Windows 8.1 64bit with an AMD Radeon R9 M290X.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many CPUs is your computer running? Can you check your CPU performance when in-game?

Normally when games crash it's either one of three things (from my experience). 1) a setting such as performance mode which makes the game force quit after hitting Xx% of CPU usage or if the FPS dips below a certain rate. Make sure performance mode is off. See if that helps. 2) overheating. Overheating is such a broad range of contributors which makes it hard to pinpoint. There are plent y of free software programs to check your pcs temperature to see if it's overheating. 3) the GPU. less common due to the fact that most people with the wrong GPU can't even get into the game, and if they are playing games on PC they usually have a decent one anyway. Let me know if any of these helped. Just trying to give you some ideas while you wait for mine and others responses.

Last night, I updated the onboard graphics driver, Intel HD 4600, and played for a couple hours thinking everything was fine. I log in today, and it again immediately crashes right after hitting play and nothing I do will appease it.

So, I'm not running anything in performance mode, it's not overheating at all and the GPU is fine. I couldn't say what my CPU performance is in-game, because I'm not able to get into the game at all, it crashes immediately after hitting 'play' on the launcher.

I dont have any problems with Game Crashing or Lagg

    Here are some tips:
Run Windows updates (I'm not referring the start menu store updates)
Ensure you have all updates installed from your PC's Manufacturer
Don't use the PC for anything other than gaming, I have a separate PC for everyone else to use, and a separate PC just for work. (Work, Home, & Play don't usually mix now has tangible meaning)
Lets skip the techie fixes and jump strait to what the PC manufacturer will get you to do: Perform a fresh installation of windows and reinstall all drivers. Install your game and if you still have problems, just replace your PC with a different model because after all it is a new PC. There could be many other reasons for your problem like faulty hardware, but the safest move it to select a different PC model to eliminate possibilities like hardware compatibility due to manufacturer OEM drivers.
