Problems attaining a retainer.

Good evening, I'm having a problem getting a retainer. I completed my level 17 quest that took me to Waking Sands. I received the active help popup about retainers and hiring retainers, as well as where I needed to go to hire one.

When I speak to all three of the vocates in the main cities, they tell me that I can currently have 0 retainers and won't allow me to hire one.

The summoning bell tells me that I don't have one employed.

I've exhausted everything I could find online and in the forums to try and figure things out. I recently did a server transfer, I don't know if that's messing things up, or if I'm just flat out missing something somewhere simple, but it's irking me.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I suppose you logged off and logged back? I Don't remember that it took time to get the hiring option available.
There was some delay when I added additional retainers so maybe just a matter of time( was short delay but still)

If you have completed all that is described then only solution is to ask support.

Do you mean this quest - right after Copper Bell Mines? Does it show on Completed main story list in you Journal? The retainers are available instantly after completing the quest, no need to logout either.

If they got active help window pop up it means they already completed it.

Regarding OP, if relog does not help you should contact in game support.
