My retainer won't go after any fish other than Crayfish?

I'm a level 10 fisher.

My retainer is a level 3 fisher.

I would think by now my retainer would be able to fish up at least one or two new things. After all, my miner/botanist are able to.

So is there something I'm doing wrong? I've probably fished up just under 20 different kinds of fish, all under level 10.

How do I get access to new fish from my retainer? Thanks.

I would have to double check the list, but it seems like your retainer will only go after fish that are classified as "Crafting Materials".

On a side note, keep in mind as well your retainer won't be able to go past level 5 on fishing until you raise your own level. Your retainer will always have a cap of 5 levels under your class unless your class is level 50.

Oh yah, I just figured at this point that she would be able to go after higher level stuff at level 3, like the other gathering classes.

She finally got a new thing to fish up at 4, and that's all I was looking for! Im leveling up fishing as I'm sending her out, so I hope I can keep up with the leveling. As of right now, she isn't capped.

Also, DoH retainers can only gather what you have previously. I have a seedling on my retainer's gathering list, but since I haven't found it myself, she can't gather it.

its probably better to reset your retainer to a different DoL/DoH job seeing you will not benefit from it much if you yourself is not high enough as a fisher.

My fisher is now level 30 and still Lominsan Anchovy hasn't appeared in her list. It is a crafting material and I have caught it for the fisher quest so it fulfills both requirements.

Probably because until 2.2, Lominsan Anchovies weren't craftable fish. Now they are used to make Fishmeal fertilizer for gardening. Something somewhere didn't get updated, apparently.

Yeah, Fisher retainers really get shafted on items. It's still worth it for the full moon sardines, silver sharks and corals, but I did a few levels limping along on Quick Ventures because the last thing I need is more dusk gobies.
